Hekate Café & Elixir Lounge is Manhattan's only 100% boozeless bar, opened in July 2022 at 167 Avenue B in Manhattan's East Village. The space is the brainchild of Abby Ehmann, who also owns the traditional dive bar Lucky directly across the street; Hekate was conceived to bring the same dive-bar warmth — fun events, interesting people, great music, comfortable ambiance — to a sober audience. By day it operates as a café with coffee, witchy herbal teas, and a workspace; by night it transforms into a sober bar serving alcohol-free cocktails, 0% ABV beers and wines (also sold as a bottle shop), and 'magical elixirs.' The named NA cocktail program covered in Per Diem and Time Out includes the Holy Fizz (a Negroni homage built on Seedlip Spice 94, Cappelletti, and Fever-Tree tonic), the AF Pina Colada (Ritual Zero Proof spiced rum, pineapple, coconut milk), and The Healer (Apothekary's Blue Me Away with lemonade, seltzer, and lavender simple syrup). The bar has been covered by Time Out, Food & Wine, Business Insider, Inc., Eating Well, DW News, The Zoe Report, and SecretNYC, and was ranked #1 among the Best Sober Bars in America by Like A Local Tours. Beyond drinks, Hekate hosts art openings, open mics, live music, spoken word, rituals, book clubs, and craft workshops; the bottle shop carries Tarot decks, candles, books, antiques, and witchy merch alongside the NA beverages.
