Hekate Cafe & Elixir Lounge is a fully alcohol-free ("100% boozeless") bar and bottle shop at 167 Avenue B, between East 10th and 11th Streets in Manhattan's East Village. It was opened in 2022 by veteran bar owner Abby Ehmann, who also runs the conventional dive bar Lucky directly across the street; she conceived Hekate to bring the same dive-bar warmth — fun events, interesting people, great music, comfortable ambiance — to a sober and sober-curious crowd. By day it operates as a cafe serving coffee, lattes, and witchy herbal teas in a comfortable workspace; by night it becomes a sober bar pouring alcohol-free cocktails, 0% ABV beers and wines (also sold as a bottle shop), herbal "elixirs," and kava drinks, with everything 0.5% ABV or less. Documented named NA cocktails include the Holy Fizz (a Negroni homage built on Seedlip Spice 94, Cappelletti, and Fever-Tree tonic), the AF Pina Colada (Ritual Zero Proof spiced rum, pineapple juice, coconut milk), and The Healer (Apothekary's Blue Me Away blue-matcha/butterfly-pea/ginseng powder with lemonade, seltzer, and lavender simple syrup); the menu also lists 0% beers including Athletic Brewing, Guinness 0, and Corona N.A. The women-staffed, witchy-themed space hosts art openings, open mics, live music, spoken word, rituals, and book clubs, and stocks Tarot decks, candles, books, antiques, and other merchandise alongside the NA beverages. It was widely covered as one of the best sober bars in America (Time Out, CNN, PIX11). In May 2026, owner Abby Ehmann announced Hekate would close, citing financial pressure and growing NA competition; the lease runs through September 2026 with a final date still to be determined, and the bar's sober events are slated to move to a new venue, B Scene at 50 Avenue B.

Imbibing establishments solely dedicated to the consumption of liquor-free spirits have been popping up all over town for quite some time now—but none have yet been fully able to embrace the character of the sorts of watering holes that, at one point in time, defined the essence of the city: dive bars. That might soon change with the arrival of Hekate, a new 'sober bar' at 167 Avenue B between 10th and 11th Streets in the East Village.
