Seedlip is widely credited as the world's first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, launched in 2015 by Ben Branson, who drew on his family's farming heritage in Lincolnshire, England and on 17th-century herbal distillation recipes (notably John French's 1651 "The Art of Distillation"). The first 1,000 hand-bottled bottles sold out at London's Selfridges within three weeks, and the brand quickly became a defining product of the modern no-and-low movement.

Each expression is distilled from individually macerated and distilled botanicals, then blended. The spirits are non-alcoholic (0.0% ABV) and contain no sugar, no sweeteners and no calories, and are designed to be used as a base for non-alcoholic cocktails rather than sipped neat. The core range comprises the herbal Garden 108 (peas, hay, rosemary, thyme, spearmint and hops), the aromatic Spice 94 (allspice, cardamom, oak, cascarilla and citrus peels) and the citrus-forward Grove 42 (Mediterranean orange, lemongrass, ginger and Japanese sansho pepper), later joined by an agave-style expression, Notas de Agave. Bottles are 700ml (23.7 fl oz).

In 2019, drinks giant Diageo acquired a majority shareholding in Seedlip, underscoring the brand's role in pioneering the non-alcoholic spirits category. Seedlip remains one of the most widely distributed and recognized non-alcoholic spirit brands worldwide.

Minus Moonshine

Prospect Heights

Bottle Shop
★★★★★?·5 NA brands

Minus Moonshine is a fully alcohol-free bottle shop in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, opened in summer 2021 by founder Apryl Electra Storms — making it one of New York City's earliest dedicated zero-proof package shops. From the street it reads like a neighborhood liquor store, but every bottle is non-alcoholic: NA beer, wine, spirits, aperitifs, mixers, bitters, and adaptogenic "potions." Inventory spans well-known zero-proof names including Ghia, Seedlip, Lyre's, Kin Euphorics, and Curious Elixirs, alongside NA wines and CBD/adaptogen spritzers, with prices reported from about $2 to $56. Storms, who is queer and non-binary, built the shop around the idea of "drink what you love" — offering non-alcoholic versions of whiskey, wine, and aperitivo for sober and sober-curious customers. Beyond retail, the store runs regular weekend tastings and community meetups, including sober-curious parent groups, queer-friends gatherings, singles nights, and meditation sessions. A second location opened in Greenpoint in 2025.
