Orangily (Meridian-Kessler (SoBro))

For three years the Indianapolis metro's only alcohol-free bottle shop was in Carmel, which meant a twenty-minute drive up Keystone for anyone living inside the old city. That changed in March 2025, when sisters Andrea Simpson and Kristin Patrick opened a second Orangily at 1051 East 54th Street, in the South Broad Ripple pocket of Meridian-Kessler that everyone here calls SoBro. The storefront faces 54th, sits beside United State of Indiana and looks across at Breadworks, and it is — as of August 2026 — the only shop of its kind inside Marion County.

The stock mirrors the Carmel store: alcohol-removed red, white, rosé and sparkling wine, non-alcoholic beer, zero-proof cocktail spirits, functional and adaptogenic drinks, kava, ready-to-drink mocktails, bitters, mixers and syrups, most of it low-sugar, gluten-free and vegan. What distinguishes both shops is that the sisters keep bottles open and pour samples freely — the category is expensive enough that a bad blind purchase can put someone off non-alcoholic wine for good, and the staff are explicit about which de-alcoholised wines taste like wine and which do not. The business opened in 2022 as Loren's Alcohol-Free Beverages and took the Orangily name in 2025; Patrick has been clear that the rename was about the breadth of the customer base rather than a change of direction. The hours run afternoons and weekends rather than bar hours, and the sisters will deliver across the north side by text or email. Given that Indianapolis lost its only fully alcohol-free bar when Memento Zero Proof closed in 2024, the two Orangily shops now carry most of the weight of the metro's alcohol-free retail. That gives the SoBro store a role beyond retail. It is the one place inside the city where the whole category is physically in front of you at once — the alcohol-removed wines next to the functional drinks next to the zero-proof amari — and where somebody will explain the difference between a spirit distilled without alcohol and a wine that had its alcohol taken out afterwards. For anyone building a home bar rather than going out, that is more useful than another bar with three mocktails on the menu. The 54th Street stretch is walkable: Gallery Pastry Shop is a few blocks west on College Avenue, and Broad Ripple proper, with Union Jack Pub and Cholita, is a mile north up the Monon Trail.
