Songbird is the most significant thing to happen to non-alcoholic drinking in the Triangle in years, and it only opened in July 2026. Founded by Meg Paradise and Charlie Blue Arm on East Whitaker Mill Road near Five Points, it runs as a single continuous room from eight in the morning to late — seasonal coffee, tea, cold-press juice and smoothies in the daytime, an ingredient-driven bar and small-plates menu in the evening.

The reason it matters is structural rather than decorative. Between a third and a half of the drinks menu is non-alcoholic at any given time, varying with the season, and the bar labels every item on the list with its ABV. That second detail is the one that non-drinkers notice: it removes the need to ask, to explain, or to trust that a server understood the question. A drink that is zero is marked zero. The menu also runs low-proof and THC options, which are labelled on the same system — worth knowing if you are avoiding all intoxicants rather than alcohol specifically.

The drinks themselves are built around what is actually growing in North Carolina, which gives the seasonal rotation a real basis rather than a marketing one. The zero-proof build the bar has been written up for is "I'll Still Have What Meg's Having", made with Rasāsvāda's Rose Bergamot, a rose cordial, lime and a rose-strawberry soda — floral and tart rather than sweet. Because the list moves with the season, expect the specific drinks to change; the proportion of the menu that is alcohol-free is the part that holds.

The daytime programme is genuinely a programme rather than a coffee machine in the corner — the roaster is Willow House, and the juices and smoothies are made in house. For anyone looking for a venue that works at 9am and 9pm without the character of the room changing, this is currently the best answer in Raleigh. Note that some early press listed the address as East Franklin Street; the venue's own site gives East Whitaker Mill Road, which is what is used here.
