Adrift Tiki Bar

Adrift Tiki Bar has been at 218 South Broadway since 2011 and has been owned since 2016 by Loren Martinez, who also runs Little Man Ice Cream. The build is committed rather than decorative: a bar flanked by totem poles, pufferfish lights overhead, a patio with a firepit, and a kitchen sending out Polynesian and Caribbean plates along the spice route the rum list implies. Tiki is a format that depends on layered juice, syrup and spice work as much as on spirit, which is why it converts to zero-proof better than most cocktail styles, and Adrift has leaned into that. In January 2025 the bar formalised what had been ad-hoc requests into a printed low- and no-ABV programme, framed by then-bar manager Jacoby Morciglio as multi-touch cocktails rather than fruit juice on the rocks; Vince Polizzi now runs the bar and Rob Duran is general manager.

The current cocktail menu carries two relevant sections. On Dry Land (No ABV) holds four drinks. Anchored Tides ($13) is the bitter one, ginger, lime and demerara against Leopold Bros non-alcoholic aperitif, and the menu describes it as bold, bitter and balanced. The N/A Mai Tai ($13) rebuilds the classic on Ritual N/A Rum with lime, orange and almond. The N/A Painkiller ($13) uses the same rum with pineapple, coconut, orange and nutmeg. The P.O.G. ($10) is the simplest and cheapest, passion fruit, orange and guava. A Mash Gang non-alcoholic IPA is stocked at $5. Alongside them, In Shallow Water lists genuinely low-ABV cocktails for guests who want to moderate rather than abstain, which is a distinction most bars do not bother to draw. The bar is closed Sundays and Mondays, runs to 10pm midweek and to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and keeps soft drinks at $5, so the zero-proof cocktails sit in a clear middle tier between a soda and a $16 rum drink. The patio and its firepit are the seats to ask for.
