KERB opened on Henry Street in Ancoats in August 2021, founded by Philip Hannaway and David McCall as a neighbourhood natural wine store and bar. The compact, thoughtfully designed room has curved walls washed in subtle peach and pink, shelves brimming with bottles from independent wineries, and blush-pink tables by the window for watching the world go by. Its branding — including the illustrated wine-loving gremlins by artist James Carbutt — leans into the founders' promise of 'no pretentiousness and no exclusivity, just really good wine', and the venue doubles as an art space with a rotating programme of genuinely innovative exhibitions.

The wine is the draw: more than 150 low-intervention bottles that champion smaller producers farming with minimal intervention, with five wines on tap that rotate monthly and different bottles opened daily. As Creative Tourist put it, 'the wine list is ever-changing and never, ever boring. Oranges, sparkling reds, non-alcoholic, cider specials, every inch of the wine terroir is covered.' You can drink in by the glass or bottle, take away from the off-licence shelves, and the events calendar runs to free-entry tastings, weekly winemaker-focused flights and monthly 'Sip + Shop' sessions with neighbouring Ancoats businesses. A 5-star Tripadvisor review from August 2025 praised the 'immaculate vibes, great wine' and the thought put into the whole experience, confirming it as a going concern.

For non-drinkers, KERB carries a dedicated 'LOW & NO' section on its list rather than leaving the sober guest to a lone soft drink. The alcohol-free and low-alcohol picks span Manchester brewery Track's Sonoma alcohol-free pale ale, Hip Pop's ginger and yuzu kombucha, Punchy's lime sparkling and Nibiru's non-alcoholic white grape juice (Traubensaft), alongside low-intervention low-ABV bottles from natural producers such as Romain des Grottes. It sits next door to award-winning craft-beer bottle shop The Epicurean, so this stretch of Henry Street offers a non-drinker unusually deep low-and-no choice — and at KERB that choice is treated with the same curatorial care as the natural wine that lines the walls.
