51 Lamb's Conduit Street, London WC1N 3NB
Opened in 2015, Noble Rot Lamb's Conduit is the flagship of the Noble Rot group, an atmospheric Bloomsbury townhouse of rough-lacquered dark wood, candlelight and walls papered with covers of the founders' Noble Rot wine magazine. It is listed in the Michelin Guide and has won a string of the industry's top wine-list honours, including the Wine List Award at the 2019 World Restaurant Awards and Wine List of the Year at the National Restaurant Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The kitchen serves unfussy, French-leaning cooking overseen with input from Stephen Harris of the Michelin-starred The Sportsman in Whitstable, but the reason to come is the vast, meticulously curated wine list, ranging from undervalued glasses to hard-to-find bottles from the world's leading growers.
The non-alcoholic angle is a natural extension of that wine obsession. Through its Shrine to the Vine shop, Noble Rot carries dealcoholised 0% ABV wines from Domaine des Grottes in Beaujolais: 'L'Antidote', a de-alcoholised Gamay, and 'Antilope', a de-alcoholised Malvasia, each £17.50. For a room this devoted to what's in the glass, offering proper 0% wine rather than a fizzy substitute makes it a genuine destination for no-alcohol drinkers.
