Quenjana Adams started Prāzbar in late 2021, after years of thinking about how best to serve non-drinkers in her faith community. It ran first as wine pop-ups and tastings around Chicago — Bronzeville, then West Town — for about eighteen months. Then, walking past an empty storefront at 2048 West Chicago Avenue near where she lived, she approached the owner about taking it over. The space came with a huge "2048" sign already in the front window, which is why the shop opened under that name rather than hers in September 2023. Her reason for doing it at all is the best short statement of the case we have found: she had not seen a wine bar, or a wine shop, that was exclusive to non-alcoholic wine, and she likes to stand out, so she said let's do this. Everything poured is between 0% and 0.5% ABV. She has also described the position she occupies with unusual honesty — that she finds herself on a very thin line between being part of the sober movement and simply being a safe space for people who do not drink.
What we cannot tell you is whether the shop is open today, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. Three separate web properties belonging to it are dead: 2048chi.com no longer resolves at all, and both Square storefronts return 404. The prazbar.com domain now forwards visitors to a ticketing page for a single fashion event at an unrelated venue. No hours have been publishable since the 2023 opening notice. Against that, the brand itself is plainly alive — Adams was posting in July 2026, and in June 2026 she announced that Prāzbar is building a permanent music venue in Chicago dedicated to faith-genre live music, writing that after several years of producing live faith and music events in the city, that music and the people who love it deserve a permanent home, and that today they are building it. Read together, the most likely picture is a project that has moved from retail into events while it develops a room of its own. If you are travelling for the wine shop, contact them first. If you are looking for alcohol-free nights out with a faith community in Chicago, follow the newsletter — that is where the next thing will be announced.
