2501 Dallas St #311, Aurora, CO 80010
Traveling Mercies sits on the third floor, west side, of Stanley Marketplace at 2501 Dallas Street — the former Stanley Aviation factory that straddles the Denver–Aurora boundary in the Central Park area, close enough to the city line that most of its trade is Denver-side. It opened in 2024 from Caroline Glover, the James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef behind Annette in the same building, with Nelson Harvey. The bar landed immediately: a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best New Bar and one of Esquire's Best Bars in America for 2024, and a 2025 James Beard semifinalist again.
The format is an intimate oyster and cocktail bar. The food is a raw bar built on oysters and shrimp cocktail with a nightly tackle box sampler, set against deliberately unfussy comfort classics — wedge salads, rice pudding — and the cocktails focus on aperitivos and rum with a coastal-leaning wine list behind them. Where the bar differs from most rooms of its calibre is that its non-alcoholic drinks come with the same descriptive treatment as everything else, which is what Westword picked up on in its January 2026 guide, recommending it as somewhere to go "for a descriptive mocktail menu that's friendly to newcomers". The paper named two: the Fizz, which it quotes as "silky and pleasant, much like a milkshake", and the Ocean Water, described as "childlike, verdant and bright" and built from seaside botanicals with ruby red grapefruit and citrus — a composition that reads as designed for the oysters rather than borrowed from a soda list. The bar is closed on Mondays and opens at 4pm Tuesday to Friday and 3pm at weekends, closing at 9pm or 10pm. For anyone in the Central Park, Stapleton or northwest Aurora part of the metro, it is the most serious drinks room within walking distance, and the non-alcoholic list is written so that a first-time non-drinker can order from it without having to ask what anything is.
