Wanderlost Lounge

Singapore is one of the world's great cocktail cities, but it has been conspicuously short of rooms where the entire proposition is a night out without alcohol. Wanderlost Lounge is the exception. It sits on the seventh-floor rooftop of Bugis+, the mall on Victoria Street, and it is fully alcohol-free — not a licensed bar with a zero-proof section, but a venue where there is no alcohol to order at all. That distinction matters for anyone who wants a genuine bar atmosphere without having to navigate a drinks list built around spirits.

The operators trade as The Halal Mixologist and previously ran Atap Bar, and the experience they have brought to Wanderlost shows in how the drinks are constructed. The menu is organised as a set of stories: each mocktail is designed to retell a fairytale or fantasy novel, drawing on titles including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Little Prince, with the flavour of the drink doing the narrative work. The results span tart and fruity through to chocolatey and buttery, and they are mixed with classic technique rather than poured from a bottle of cordial. Because the kitchen is halal, the lounge also serves as a rare full night out for Muslim diners, with a grill menu of burgers, steaks and ribs.

The room itself is open-air and looks over the Bugis skyline, which makes it a genuine destination rather than a daytime stop. It opens at 5:30pm on weekdays and from noon at weekends, running to 11pm, and tables are allocated in 90-minute reservation windows, so booking ahead is sensible on weekend evenings. The 90-minute cap is worth planning around: this is a venue that fills, and walk-ins at 8pm on a Saturday are optimistic.

It is worth being clear about why this matters in Singapore specifically. The city has an extraordinary cocktail scene — its bars occupy a large share of Asia's 50 Best — and a great many of those bars now pour thoughtful zero-proof drinks. What almost none of them offer is a room where alcohol is simply absent, which is a different proposition for anyone in recovery, anyone observing a religious prohibition, or anyone who would rather not spend an evening beside a wall of bottles. Wanderlost fills that gap on its own. For a sober visitor to Singapore, it is the single most straightforward recommendation in the city: a rooftop, a real cocktail programme, and nothing on the menu you need to ask about.
