Standby's zero-proof drinks aren't a side menu — they're built into the same rotating cocktail list that's earned the bar James Beard semifinalist nods and a 2025 Two Pin "Outstanding" rating from The Pinnacle Guide. The Buddy Boy Negroni (N/A aperitif, charred citrus, maple, green coffee) and California Sober (hemp & root spirit, ginger, lemongrass, acidified orange, CO₂) are formulated as zero-proof cocktails from the ground up, while the Farm to Highball is available zero-proof on request. Tucked into The Belt, Detroit's mural-lined art alley, Standby applies the same technical rigor to its no-alcohol drinks as to the award-winning ones next to them on the menu.
Order: Buddy Boy Negroni (N/A aperitif, charred citrus, maple, green coffee) — zero proof · California Sober (hemp & root spirit, ginger, lemongrass, acidified orange, CO₂) — zero proof · Farm to Highball (vodka, seasonal produce, botanical soda) — available zero proof on request

Awafi Cafe is a fully alcohol-free, halal Yemeni coffeehouse on Hamtramck's Joseph Campau Avenue, so its drink menu was never built around removing booze — it just never had any. A printed "Refreshers" section carries four virgin mojitos (Blueberry, Mango, Raspberry, Strawberry) plus a Strawberry Mint Lemonade and fruit smoothies, served alongside traditional Yemeni coffees like Sana'ani, Mufawar, and Qishr made from organic imported beans.
Order: Blueberry Mojito (virgin) · Mango Mojito (virgin) · Raspberry Mojito (virgin)
Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am-12am; Sat-Sun 10am-12am

Qahwah House is a fully alcohol-free Yemeni coffeehouse — there's no bar and never has been. The East Dearborn flagship at 6655 Schaefer Rd pours traditional preparations like Mofawar (cardamom-and-cream coffee), Rada'ey (ginger-cardamom light roast), Qishr (cascara with ginger and cinnamon), and Adeni Chai (black tea, cardamom, nutmeg, milk), made from beans sourced directly from founder Ibrahim Alhasbani's family farms in Yemen. It's the original location behind what's now a 30-plus-store chain, and the reason East Dearborn is a genuine destination for Yemeni coffee culture rather than just another espresso stop.
Order: Mofawar (medium roast coffee, cardamom, cream) · Adeni Chai (Yemeni black tea, cardamom, nutmeg, milk) · Rada'ey (light roast coffee, ginger, cardamom)
Hours: Mon-Thu 7am-11pm; Fri-Sat 7am-12am; Sun 9am-11pm

Grey Ghost's printed drink menu carries a dedicated Mocktails section with six named non-alcoholic cocktails, from the Faygo-riffing House Rock & Rye (house-made cherry, vanilla, and cinnamon syrups over soda) to the tropical I Insist (coconut milk tea, cold brew coffee, pineapple, hot honey). The Brush Park steakhouse also pours Athletic Brewing's Free Wave for guests wanting a non-alcoholic beer. Detroit Free Press singled out the House Rock & Rye as delivering the city's nostalgic soda flavor "without the questionable ingredients."
Order: Rule No. 1 (orange, blueberry, Calpico, lime) · Back on Earth (earl grey, grapefruit, honey, pineapple, demerara, lemon, lavender cream) · House Rock & Rye (house-made cherry, vanilla, cinnamon syrups, soda)

The Monarch Club prints a named "Zero Proof Libations" section on its cocktail menu, not an afterthought tacked to the wine list. The Golden Court (guava purée, pineapple juice, lavender syrup, honey, ginger ale, Tajín) and Pea Tea SD (butterfly pea tea, lemon, honey) are built with the same layered technique as the bar's signature cocktails, plus Root Chakra (lemon, ginger, lavender, tonic) and Athletic Brewing NA IPA on draft. It's a real menu section, priced and composed to match the rest of the program, on the 13th-floor rooftop of the restored Metropolitan Building.
Order: Golden Court (guava purée, pineapple juice, lavender syrup, honey, ginger ale, Tajín) · Pea Tea SD (butterfly pea tea, lemon juice, honey) · Root Chakra (lemon, ginger, lavender, tonic water)

Basan runs a standing "No ABV" section on its drink menu, kept separate from the cocktail list, with four originals: Rise & Shine (Vietnamese cold brew, orange, buckwheat honey, condensed milk, salt), Not This Time (aloe, pineapple, grapefruit, shishito, togarashi), My Neighbor Totoro (coconut, mango, lavender, ube) and Our Little Secret (raspberry, ginger, mint, honey, lime). The Japanese-inspired restaurant, across from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit's District Detroit/Cass Park area, also stocks Sapporo NA, a 0.0% Japanese lager, alongside its sake and specialty-cocktail program. Eater Detroit named Basan one of the city's best spots for nonalcoholic cocktails.

How this page decides what counts
Three facts, all verified, all required. The venue has to rate at least 4 of 5 for its non-alcoholic program — a fully alcohol-free room, or a licensed venue with a strong named zero-proof list, the same floor our Detroit sober bars page uses. It has to be somewhere you can sit, so bottle shops are out. And its hours have to run past midnight on at least one night, which is what makes this a nightlife page rather than a second copy of the sober bars list: at that cut a restaurant with a good zero-proof menu drops out, and the bars, lounges, kava bars and late coffeehouses remain.
“No alcohol served” is written on a card only when the venue's own verified description says so — never inferred from a rating or a name. Everything else here is a bar with a real non-alcoholic program, and it is labelled as a bar. Hours are the venue's live listing, re-synced weekly; the drinks on each venue page were read off its current menu and carry the date we last confirmed them.
Questions people ask
Yes. We have verified 8 Detroit venues that both keep a strong zero-proof list and stay open past midnight on at least one night: Standby, Bad Luck Bar, Awafi Cafe, Qahwah House, Grey Ghost Detroit, The Monarch Club and more. The latest close we found is 2am.
2 of the 8: Awafi Cafe, Qahwah House. Each is marked "no alcohol served" on this page because its own verified record says so. The rest are licensed bars and lounges with a real non-alcoholic program — named drinks, real zero-proof spirits, a printed section — where alcohol is also served.
Every venue here closes after midnight on at least one night; the card for each shows the latest closing time and how many nights a week it applies. The list is ordered latest-first. Hours come from each venue's live business listing and are re-synced weekly — but late hours are the first thing a bar trims, so check the day before a special trip.
Order from the zero-proof list by name — every venue here has one, and each venue's own page lists the drinks we read off its current menu with ingredients and prices. A named drink built on a real non-alcoholic spirit (Seedlip, Lyre's, Ritual, Pathfinder and the like) is a different thing from a soda with fruit in it, and it is priced and served like a cocktail. If the list has changed since we checked, ask what the bar is making that week rather than for "a mocktail".
It is an honest one. The venues marked "no alcohol served" are rooms where nobody at the next table is drinking either, and for many people that is the only kind of night out that works. The licensed venues are bars — good ones for a non-drinker, but bars — and the page says so plainly rather than blurring the two. Choose by the label, not the name.
