700 Queen St, Honolulu, HI 96813

Aloha Beer Company brews and pours at 700 Queen Street in Kakaʻako, the warehouse district between downtown and Ala Moana that has become Honolulu's main concentration of independent food and drink. The taproom is the public face of a working brewery, with the range poured alongside guest taps, and it functions as a neighbourhood room rather than a visitor attraction — open 11am most days, later at weekends, with happy hour daily from 2pm to 6pm and brunch service on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

The reason it appears in an alcohol-free guide is that it does the thing most breweries do not. A taproom is, for a lot of people, the default place a group ends up, and the standard provision for anyone not drinking is a canned soft drink handed over without comment. Aloha Beer instead keeps a named mocktail list: the Cucumber Smash, which is the driest and most bar-like of them; the Lilikoi Cooler, built on passionfruit, which is the local flavour that does the most work in Hawaiian zero-proof drinks because it brings genuine acidity rather than just sweetness; a house iced tea; and a Virgin Mojito. None of these are technically ambitious, and the brewery does not produce its own non-alcoholic beer the way some mainland breweries now do. But the list exists, it is written down, and a guest can order from it by name — which is the practical difference between being accommodated and being catered for. Kakaʻako's density helps too: Moku Kitchen at SALT is a few minutes away, Merriman's is in Ward Village just to the east, and Wild Orange and Ground Level Lounge are both within a short drive, so the district supports a whole evening rather than a single stop.
