Barbacoa Grill sits near Parkcenter Boulevard, away from downtown Boise on the river side of the city, and it is unapologetically theatrical — elaborate interiors, tableside preparation, the kind of room people book for anniversaries and birthdays rather than drop into.

Its alcohol-free offering is a dedicated menu headed Zero Regrets. The name is a joke, but the structure is the substance. A separately titled section on the printed menu changes the social mechanics of the whole evening: instead of catching a server's eye, explaining, and waiting while they check with the bar, you read a list and choose from it exactly as everybody else does. Ordering stops being a small negotiation and becomes an ordinary transaction. That single formatting decision does more for a non-drinker than an extra ingredient in any given glass.

The setting sharpens the point. Special-occasion restaurants are precisely where the non-drinking problem becomes conspicuous — a table of twelve, a toast, one person with a soda. Being out by Parkcenter it needs a drive from downtown, so treat it as a destination rather than part of a walkable evening — but it is one of the few Boise venues in this guide that is genuinely built for an occasion.
