Red Feather Lounge sits on the pedestrianised stretch of 8th Street in downtown Boise, the block that carries most of the city's outdoor drinking in summer. It has been part of Boise's cocktail scene for years, and it treats its alcohol-free list as part of the same programme rather than an appendix.

Tiki is a natural fit for zero-proof work because the style already depends on layered syrups, spices and citrus rather than on the spirit alone, so removing the rum costs less than removing gin from a martini. The hours are among the best in this guide: from 4pm through the week and 11am at weekends, running to 1:30am on Friday and Saturday. Boise's alcohol-free options otherwise skew early — Free Spirits shuts at 6pm two days a week — so a downtown bar serving properly built zero-proof drinks past one in the morning matters. It is a few minutes' walk from Art Haus, Thick as Thieves and Bar Please!, which makes the 8th Street area easy to work through in an evening. For a visitor with one night in Boise and no interest in drinking, that block is the single most efficient thing to plan around. The Saturday and Sunday 11am opening also makes it one of very few places in the city where a considered alcohol-free drink is available before the evening, which is otherwise Boise's weakest hour.
