Bresca is chef Ryan Ratino's contemporary French bistro on bustling 14th Street in Washington, DC's Logan Circle neighborhood, his first solo venture, which opened in September 2017. It earned a Michelin star, which it has held since 2019, and sits directly below Ratino's two-Michelin-star tasting room JONT, located on the floor above in the same building. The dining room blends the warmth of a neighborhood favorite with special-occasion polish, with splashes of gold and a living moss wall, while the cooking pairs French technique with local and international ingredients in dishes like a foie gras "negroni" topped with Campari gelee. The bar program is a draw in its own right, and the kitchen and bar extend the same care to a non-alcoholic list as to the full cocktail menu. Confirmed zero-proof options include the Citronnade a la Menthe, a cardamom-and-lemon cordial inspired by traditional mint lemonade from southern France; a Pear Collins built on zero-proof gin with pear, lemon, and ginger beer; and a non-alcoholic Old Fashioned riff made with American malt, orgeat, and aromatic bitters. Washingtonian named Bresca among DC-area restaurants with great non-alcoholic cocktails, noting it is hard to visit without ordering one of its drinks but that lovely alcohol-free substitutes are on hand. The restaurant serves an a la carte menu and tasting menu, dinner-only, Wednesday through Sunday.
