ilili is the Washington, DC outpost of the acclaimed Manhattan Lebanese institution, opened October 7, 2021 at The Wharf along the Southwest waterfront. The restaurant is led by executive chef, CEO, and owner Philippe Massoud, whose menu is an ode to the tables and flavors of his Lebanese heritage, served mezza-style with an emphasis on Mediterranean seafood. The roomy, garden-inspired dining room evokes a Beirut courtyard, with custom daisy-tile floors, hand-painted wallpaper, reclaimed barn wood, citrus trees, hanging plants, and a water fountain. Its non-alcoholic program centers on spirit-free bottled drinks created by beverage director Rachid Hdouche, who captures Levantine flavors in the lineup. Named zero-proof options include the Karkadih, a hibiscus and rosehip cordial, and the Levantine Lemonade, made with mint and fresh lemon juice. Washingtonian recognized the venue in its 2024 roundup of DC-area bars and restaurants with great non-alcoholic cocktails. The restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday through Friday, brunch on weekends, and dinner nightly.
