Goodkind

Opened in 2014 in a converted corner building on S. Wentworth Avenue, Goodkind pairs chef and co-owner Paul Zerkel's seasonal Americana cooking with a cocktail program overseen by co-owner Katie Rose. The bar's reputation reaches well beyond Bay View: in 2022 Goodkind was named a James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Bar Program, and it continues to appear on OnMilwaukee's rotating roundup of the city's essential restaurants.

That same craft carries into the venue's alcohol-free drinks. Goodkind builds a rotating, seasonal slate of zero-proof cocktails that runs from spirit-free aperitifs and NA tonics to more elaborate sweet-and-savory drinks. Its signature non-alcoholic pour, the NA-mericano, combines Ritual's zero-proof aperitif with raspberry, Fluere Botanicale, lemon and tonic, while a house-brewed Szechuan ginger beer gives non-drinkers a spicy, made-in-house option alongside the cocktail list.

Milwaukee outlets — including OnMilwaukee's guide to the city's best zero-proof cocktails and Visit Milwaukee's NA-cocktail directory — consistently cite Goodkind as a go-to for guests who want to skip alcohol without sacrificing craft. The kitchen and bar serve evenings, Friday through Tuesday from 5 p.m. (closed Wednesday and Thursday), with reservations available through Tock.
