Yarra Botanica

Yarra Botanica is a two-level floating bar and eatery built out over the Yarra River, moored just north of 4 Riverside Quay on the Southbank Promenade in the heart of Melbourne's arts precinct. Guests jump aboard for casual drinks, shared plates and pizzas with spectacular city-skyline views; the kitchen sources around 90% of its food from local suppliers, and walk-ins of all sizes are welcome across the two decks.

The drinks program is the venue's signature: a 100% Victorian beverage list assembled in partnership with Drink Victorian, spanning signature spritzes, boutique beers and locally made wines. The non-alcoholic offering runs the same all-local logic. Per sitchu's Melbourne non-alcoholic bars guide, the list includes alcohol-free beers from Hop Nation and zero-alcohol spirits from Four Pillars, and the venue's own listings add AF spritzes, RTDs and mocktails to the mix.

The range is real but moderate rather than a printed zero-proof anchor menu — the NoLo Life directory rates its alcohol-free and low-alcohol selection a 3 out of 5. For an alcohol-free visitor, that means a dependable handful of genuine local NA beers and spirits plus mixed non-alcoholic builds, poured in one of Southbank's more distinctive riverfront rooms.

Yarra Botanica is open Monday to Wednesday from midday to 10pm, Thursday until 11pm, Friday to 1am, Saturday from 11am to 1am, and Sunday from 11am to 11pm.

The setting is the draw, and it is genuinely hard to replicate: a floating bar on the Yarra in the middle of the city. For a non-drinker that combination is unusually good value: the thing you are paying for is the position on the water and an hour in the sun, neither of which is improved by alcohol, and the drink in your hand is made forty minutes away rather than shipped from Europe.
