Zero Gravity Beer Hall

Zero Gravity was founded in 2004 in the hearth room at American Flatbread in Burlington and moved into its own Pine Street facility in 2015. The beer hall there is a large, plain, well-run taproom — Green State Lager, Conehead IPA, Madonna Double IPA and a long rotating list — and it is also the home of one of the earliest serious non-alcoholic beers made by a New England craft brewery.

Rescue Club launched on 2 January 2021 as a separate brand, developed with Kris Nelson, a co-founder of Citizen Cider, and it started with an IPA. The technical detail that matters is what happens after de-alcoholisation: the beer is dry-hopped a second time and then pasteurised, which restores the aromatic hop character that the alcohol-removal process strips out. That is why Rescue Club reads as a hoppy beer rather than as hop-flavoured water, and it is the same trick the better NA brewers have since adopted. A pilsner followed. Both sit under 0.5% ABV and both are available in cans at the beer hall.

For a visitor the practical value is that this is a proper brewery taproom where the non-alcoholic option is made by the same people who made everything else on the board, sold at the same counter, in the same room, with no separate menu or apology attached. In a beer city like Burlington that is a meaningful thing to be able to do with a group.

The hall opens at 8am seven days a week — genuinely, for coffee and breakfast — and runs to 9pm, or 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Food is served daily, there is indoor and outdoor seating, it is first-come first-served with no reservations, and leashed dogs are welcome on the patio.
