Cafe Jazzy Rose is downtown Grand Rapids' first fully alcohol-free cocktail bar, opened in January 2025 at 44 Ionia Avenue SW by hospitality veterans Joseff VanHorn and Ben Kaja. The room is built on a Jazz Age conceit, with a menu organised around iconic jazz locales, and the drinks are botanical zero-proof builds the owners call elixirs rather than mocktails. They are made with adaptogens including lion's mane mushroom, ashwagandha, tulsi, valerian root, hemp and ginseng, and non-alcoholic beer and wine round out the list. The kitchen serves Southern comfort cooking with Cajun and global touches: shrimp and grits, mahi tacos, smash burgers, bowls, soups and salads, alongside vegetarian-forward plates such as lion's mane "crab-less cakes" and the Sun Ra Nut Burger. Kava Kasa is a kava and tea bar on Cherry Street SE in East Hills, founded by Riccardo Schinina and billed on its own site as Michigan's only kava bar. It serves no alcohol. Kava is a root from the South Pacific — Kava Kasa sources its own from Vanuatu — and it is psychoactive: it is drunk for a sedating, mildly euphoric effect, which is worth stating plainly for anyone in recovery who is weighing whether the room is right for them. Drinks are ordered in two steps, a kava grade followed by a mixer, and served in a shell with a spoon. The bar also pours teas and coffee and runs a pizza menu, and it keeps genuinely late hours for a venue with nothing alcoholic behind the bar.

Max's South Seas Hideaway is a two-storey tiki bar and restaurant at 58 Ionia Avenue SW, and the most ambitious tiki project built in the Midwest in decades. It is a joint venture between Mark Sellers, who founded HopCat; Martin Cate, the James Beard award-winning author and owner of San Francisco's Smuggler's Cove, who designed the cocktail program; and Gecko, a Hawaii-based tiki and Polynesian artist. The two floors hold one of the largest collections of new and vintage tiki art and memorabilia anywhere. The bar keeps a standing Zero Proof menu of eight island-style mocktails — among them the Ginger Zing, Coconut Mojito, Island Passion, Pomegranate Punch, Orange Creamsicle and both a Pom and a standard Virgin Pina Colada — and also pours locally made Brix Sodas.

Long Road Distillers became the first craft distillery in Grand Rapids when it opened on the West Side in May 2015, and its cocktail bar and kitchen at 537 Leonard Street NW remain its home. The house principle is "take no shortcuts": Long Road does not buy in finished spirit, but mills locally sourced grain, ferments and distils on site. In 2025 it extended that to alcohol-free drinking with Uncharted, its own zero-proof canned cocktail line — a Chinotto, a Lavender Lemonade, a Lemongrass Mule and a Red Amaro Spritz — which is poured in the taproom alongside a non-alcohol list running past twenty selections. Drip Drop Cocktail Room is a craft cocktail bar at 445 Bridge Street NW, in the middle of the Bridge Street run on the West Side. It carries between twenty and twenty-five hand-crafted cocktails that rotate through the year, and its distinguishing practice is that every mixer is made fresh in house — syrups, cordials and all — from what the bar describes as responsibly sourced and thoughtful ingredients. Gin Gin's is a neighbourhood cocktail bar and kitchen at 345 Summer Avenue NW, just off the Bridge Street run on the West Side, trading under the line "There's always time for a good time."
