One Twenty Three Tavern takes its name from its address at 123 Ionia Avenue SW, on the downtown block that also holds Big Mini Putt Club and Max's South Seas Hideaway. It is a straightforward American tavern with a full kitchen, open daily from 11am to 11pm, which makes it one of the more reliably available options in the centre of the city. Its approach to zero-proof drinking is to rebuild the classics rather than invent new ones: the bar makes non-alcoholic versions of the Margarita, the Gin and Soda and the Tom Collins, all three of which were named in the Downtown Grand Rapids guide to the city centre's best non-alcoholic drinks in October 2025.

MDRD is a modern Spanish restaurant on the 27th floor of the Tower wing at the Amway Grand Plaza, 187 Monroe Avenue NW, with panoramic views over the Grand River and the city. It holds a AAA Four Diamond rating and serves expressive entrees, shareables and desserts in the Madrid idiom the name points at. For non-drinkers the relevant point is that the mixing team builds a mocktail list alongside the cocktails rather than treating zero-proof as a request to be handled — Experience Grand Rapids describes the non-alcoholic selection as every bit as impressive as the rest of the menu. The named build most often cited is the Elote, a fruity, iced and bright drink finished with a mint garnish. Non-alcoholic beers are also stocked.

Drip Drop Cocktail Room is a craft cocktail bar at 445 Bridge Street NW, in the middle of the Bridge Street run on the West Side. It carries between twenty and twenty-five hand-crafted cocktails that rotate through the year, and its distinguishing practice is that every mixer is made fresh in house — syrups, cordials and all — from what the bar describes as responsibly sourced and thoughtful ingredients. That house-made base is what gives its non-alcoholic drinks something to be built from, and the bar keeps named zero-proof options rather than improvising: the Flint Tropics, the French Connection and the Blood Moon were all listed among downtown Grand Rapids' best non-alcoholic drinks in October 2025.

The Winchester is a long-running gastropub on the Wealthy Street corridor at 648 Wealthy Street SE, and one of the anchors of that strip. It carries a standing spirit-free cocktail list rather than seasonal improvisation: One For The Honey is built on Ghia aperitif with honey, lemon, strawberry puree and soda, and Kelly Kapowski combines strawberry, vanilla simple syrup and mandarin Jarritos under a marshmallow cold foam. Rotating non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing and rotating High Noon seltzers fill out the range. One practical warning worth carrying: the domain thewinchester.net is not theirs and now serves unrelated casino content. The venue's actual site is winchestergr.com, and reservations run through Toast.

The Knickerbocker is New Holland Brewing's Grand Rapids brewpub, on the Bridge Street strip at 417 Bridge Street NW. It is a large room by brewpub standards — three separate bars, a wood-fired oven, indoor and outdoor beer gardens and several private dining spaces. Its relevance to non-alcoholic drinking is that New Holland brews its own alcohol-free beer rather than stocking somebody else's: Zylch IPA is a 0.00% ABV IPA made with ingredients that let it carry real malt and hops. The brewery also produces Aquanut, a non-alcoholic sparkling water, and the bars mix a selection of zero-proof cocktails. In a city that has called itself Beer City USA since 2012, this is the brewery that answers the question of what a non-drinker orders.

How we know a Grand Rapids bar has NA beer
Three kinds of evidence put a venue on this page, and each card says which. The strongest is a menu we've read: the exact beers, the price where the menu prints one, and the date we confirmed it. Next are breweries — a brewery is in this directory because it pours non-alcoholic beer, often its own. Last are venues whose own menu or copy names a specific NA brand they carry. Nothing here is inferred from a review or a vague “great NA selection”.
“Non-alcoholic” is a legal band, not a promise of zero: under 0.5% ABV in the US, with “alcohol-free” reserved for 0.0%. The big lagers (Heineken 0.0, Guinness 0.0) are labeled 0.0%; most craft NA beers sit somewhere under 0.5%. We name the brand wherever the venue does so you can check the label that matters to you.
Draft NA beer is spreading but still uncommon, so we never assume it. A pour is marked “on draft” only when the venue's menu says tap or draft; everything else should be read as cans or bottles.
Frequently asked about non-alcoholic beer in Grand Rapids
We've verified 5 places in Grand Rapids with non-alcoholic beer: One Twenty Three Tavern, MDRD, Drip Drop Cocktail Room and more below. 4 list it on a menu we've read line by line; the rest are breweries, or venues that name a specific NA beer brand they carry. Every listing shows when we last checked.
Usually not quite. In the US, beer labeled "non-alcoholic" must be under 0.5% ABV — a trace level also found in some ripe fruit and kombucha — while "alcohol-free" means 0.0%. Most craft NA beers (Athletic, Best Day, Untitled Art) sit between 0.0% and 0.5%; Heineken 0.0 and Guinness 0.0 are labeled 0.0%. Rules differ abroad: in the UK "alcohol-free" is 0.05% or under and "de-alcoholised" up to 0.5%. If you avoid alcohol entirely, look for a 0.0% label — we name the brand wherever the venue does, so you can check.
Draft NA beer is still the exception: most bars serve it in cans or bottles, and that is what to expect. We flag "on draft" only when a venue's own menu says tap or draft — none of the current Grand Rapids listings has a menu-confirmed draft pour yet. If a listing doesn't say draft, assume packaged.
On the Grand Rapids menus and listings we've verified, the most-carried brands are Athletic Brewing (3 venues), Heineken 0.0 (1 venue). Each brand on this page links to everywhere else it is poured.
