Public Parking opened on East Johnson Street in October 2024 and became nationally noticed almost immediately: Bon Appétit put it on its 2025 list of the Best New Bars in the US, and it was a James Beard Best New Bar semifinalist in 2026. The house style is long, absurd drink names, elaborate garnishes, irreverent glassware and cocktails served in nitro-chilled glass. The non-alcoholic drinks get the same treatment rather than a separate lesser one — the standing zero-proof build, "I'm Just a Baby . . . I Can Pay You In Blocks", runs smoked tea against lemon, ginger and bubbles. Open daily from 4pm to 2am.
Order: I'm Just a Baby . . . I Can Pay You In Blocks (smoked tea, lemon, ginger, bubbles)
Hours: Mon-Sun 4pm-2am

Eno Vino Downtown is a wine bar and bistro on the eighth floor of the AC Hotel on North Webster Street, with views over the Capitol and Lake Monona, and it keeps a full mocktail menu rather than a token line. The named builds cover the ground a wine bar's customers actually ask for: a honey ginger lemon spritz, an apple cinnamon mule, a pal-no-ma and a strawberry nada-rita, plus Leitz Eins Zwei Zero non-alcoholic sparkling rosé by the glass — which matters in a room whose whole premise is wine. It opens at 4pm daily and runs to midnight, or 1am on Friday and Saturday.
Order: Honey ginger lemon spritz · Apple cinnamon mule · Pal-no-ma
Hours: Mon-Thu 4pm-12am; Fri-Sat 4pm-1am; Sun 4pm-12am

Muskellounge & Sporting Club is a cocktail bar on Monona Drive in the Lake Edge neighbourhood, themed around Wisconsin's fishing and sporting-club tradition, and its non-alcoholic list leans on ready-to-drink bitters rather than sugar. It pours St. Agrestis's Phony Negroni — the Brooklyn producer's non-alcoholic negroni in a bottle, which is genuinely bitter and carbonated — alongside the Amaro Falso, its zero-proof amaro. Serving two bittersweet Italian styles rather than two sweet ones is an unusual and welcome choice. The bar keeps late hours for the east side, to midnight midweek and 1am on Friday and Saturday.
Order: St. Agrestis Phony Negroni (non-alcoholic negroni, bitter and carbonated) · St. Agrestis Amaro Falso (non-alcoholic amaro)
Hours: Mon-Thu 3pm-12am; Fri 2pm-1am; Sat 12pm-1am; Sun 12pm-10pm

Lucille is a wood-fired pizza restaurant and bar on King Street just off the Capitol Square, and one of the downtown rooms Madison's guides name repeatedly for non-alcoholic drinking. Its zero-proof builds are seasonal and properly constructed rather than sweetened — the Honeycrisp and Tart Cherry Mule leans on apple and sour cherry against ginger, and the Pineapple Mint No-Jito is the house mojito without the rum. The kitchen runs late for Madison, to 11pm most nights and 1am on Friday and Saturday, which matters in a downtown where a lot of the better zero-proof lists sit in restaurants that stop serving at nine.
Order: Honeycrisp and Tart Cherry Mule · Pineapple Mint No-Jito
Hours: Mon-Wed 3pm-11pm; Thu 11am-11pm; Fri-Sat 11am-1am; Sun 11am-11pm

Leopold's is a bookshop, café and bar on Regent Street in Greenbush, a format that in practice makes it one of the easiest rooms in Madison to spend an evening in without drinking — there are books, the coffee programme is real, and nobody is waiting for you to order another round. It opens at 10am six days a week and stays open until midnight every night, which is an almost unheard-of span. The non-alcoholic drinks are named and built: the Leopold's Scarlet Mule runs hibiscus and sage against ginger beer and orange bitters, and a pomegranate sage spritz sits alongside it. Both turn up in Madison's zero-proof coverage.
Order: Leopold's Scarlet Mule (hibiscus, sage, ginger beer, orange bitters) · Pomegranate sage spritz
Hours: Mon 2pm-12am; Tue-Sun 10am-12am

Merchant has been the reference craft cocktail bar on Madison's Capitol Square for years, and is one of the handful of downtown rooms local coverage consistently names when the question is where to drink well without alcohol. Its zero-proof menu is built rather than substituted — the No Regrets works a non-alcoholic "gin-ish" spirit against rosemary and lime, which is a dry, herbaceous drink rather than a sweet one. The bar sits on South Pinckney Street a few doors from Settle Down Tavern and around the corner from Lucille and Eno Vino, which makes it the natural anchor of an alcohol-free evening on the Square. Closed Mondays; weekend brunch from 9am.
Order: No Regrets (non-alcoholic "gin-ish" spirit, rosemary, lime)
Hours: Mon closed; Tue-Thu 4pm-9pm; Fri 4pm-12am; Sat 9am-12am; Sun 9am-9pm

Nitro Beverage Lounge
Capitol Neighborhoods (Bassett)
Nitro Beverage Lounge is a coffee bar and craft cocktail lounge on West Washington Avenue near the Capitol, and it puts more technique into its non-alcoholic drinks than anywhere else in Madison. The bartenders build mocktails the way they build cocktails, reaching for lapsang souchong to get smoke into The Woodsman rather than adding sugar. The standing list runs to the Rose Spritz on rose essence, lemon and soda; the Arbol Bloom, which sets pomegranate and hibiscus against chilli de árbol and lime; and I'd Rather Be On The Beach, a pistachio creme, banana, lemon, honey, coconut milk and banana leaf build that is closer to a dessert than a soft drink.
Order: The Woodsman (lapsang souchong tea, smoked) · Rose Spritz (rose essence, lemon, soda) · Arbol Bloom (pomegranate, hibiscus, chilli de árbol, lime)
Hours: Mon closed; Tue-Thu 4pm-11pm; Fri 12pm-12am; Sat 10am-12am; Sun 12pm-8pm

Settle Down Tavern is a supper-club-inflected bar and restaurant on South Pinckney Street off the Capitol Square, and it is one of the two downtown rooms Visit Madison names first when the question is where to find a mocktail menu. The bar shakes its non-alcoholic drinks in house rather than buying them in, and — usefully — stays open all day even when the kitchen closes for a reset between 2:30pm and 4pm, so it is one of the few Capitol Square rooms where you can sit with a drink mid-afternoon. Happy hour runs every weekday from 2 to 6pm. Closed Sundays; open to midnight Friday and Saturday.
Hours: Mon 4pm-9pm; Tue 11:30am-9pm; Wed-Thu 11:30am-10pm; Fri-Sat 11:30am-12am; Sun closed
How this page decides what counts
Three facts, all verified, all required. The venue has to rate at least 4 of 5 for its non-alcoholic program — a fully alcohol-free room, or a licensed venue with a strong named zero-proof list, the same floor our Madison sober bars page uses. It has to be somewhere you can sit, so bottle shops are out. And its hours have to run past midnight on at least one night, which is what makes this a nightlife page rather than a second copy of the sober bars list: at that cut a restaurant with a good zero-proof menu drops out, and the bars, lounges, kava bars and late coffeehouses remain.
“No alcohol served” is written on a card only when the venue's own verified description says so — never inferred from a rating or a name. Everything else here is a bar with a real non-alcoholic program, and it is labelled as a bar. Hours are the venue's live listing, re-synced weekly; the drinks on each venue page were read off its current menu and carry the date we last confirmed them.
Questions people ask
Yes. We have verified 8 Madison venues that both keep a strong zero-proof list and stay open past midnight on at least one night: Public Parking, Eno Vino Downtown, Muskellounge & Sporting Club, Lucille, Leopold's Books Bar Caffe, Merchant and more. The latest close we found is 2am.
None of the 8 listed here is a fully alcohol-free room; all are licensed venues with a strong, named zero-proof list. If "no bar tab anywhere in the building" is the requirement, check the city page for alcohol-free cafes and bottle shops that close earlier.
Every venue here closes after midnight on at least one night; the card for each shows the latest closing time and how many nights a week it applies. The list is ordered latest-first. Hours come from each venue's live business listing and are re-synced weekly — but late hours are the first thing a bar trims, so check the day before a special trip.
Order from the zero-proof list by name — every venue here has one, and each venue's own page lists the drinks we read off its current menu with ingredients and prices. A named drink built on a real non-alcoholic spirit (Seedlip, Lyre's, Ritual, Pathfinder and the like) is a different thing from a soda with fruit in it, and it is priced and served like a cocktail. If the list has changed since we checked, ask what the bar is making that week rather than for "a mocktail".
It is an honest one. The venues marked "no alcohol served" are rooms where nobody at the next table is drinking either, and for many people that is the only kind of night out that works. The licensed venues are bars — good ones for a non-drinker, but bars — and the page says so plainly rather than blurring the two. Choose by the label, not the name.
