Dunedin MockFusion

MockFusion opened in downtown Dunedin on 18 May 2025, the result of an idea its founder England Davis had been carrying for a decade: combine the communal atmosphere of a neighbourhood bar with the properties of a natural apothecary, and leave out the alcohol. Davis runs it with Sabryna Wright and Ashlynne Barnes. The framing Davis gave the Tampa Bay Times is the clearest statement of intent any venue in this directory offers — it is like Cheers, everyone is glad they came, but it is a place where humans connect without alcohol.

The offering runs across three registers rather than one. Craft mocktails are the evening trade; specialty coffee and tea carry the day; and custom wellness blends and mushroom coffee sit alongside as the apothecary half of the concept. That breadth is deliberate. A venue serving only mocktails competes with every bar in town on the single axis where it has removed its own main product, whereas one that also does the morning coffee and the afternoon tea is simply the place people go.

Dunedin itself matters to how this works. It is a walkable, low-rise town north of Clearwater with a dense main street and a strong brewery culture — which is to say the local default is emphatically alcoholic, and a fully alcohol-free room in the middle of it fills a real absence rather than a theoretical one.

Everything served is free of alcohol. Practical notes: it is a small room in a small downtown, parking is street-based and gets tight at weekends, and the coffee and tea trade means it is genuinely usable in the daytime rather than only as an evening alternative. Dunedin's brewery-dense main street makes the contrast sharper: this is the one room on it where nobody has to explain themselves.
