Free Spirited is a dedicated alcohol-free ("100% Craft, 0% Alcohol") cocktail lounge and creative scratch kitchen opened in 2023 by Amber Pennington and Arleo De Guzman in the former Caramba Mexican Restaurant space on Main Street in Alhambra, and is frequently billed as the first alcohol-free cocktail bar in Southern California. Rather than relying on commercial NA spirit brands, the bar makes its own non-alcoholic spirits in-house in flavors such as citrus rind, spiced molasses, and aloe herb, mixing them into roughly 16 craft zero-proof cocktails like the Moon & Stars and the Belarosa. The kitchen, led by Pennington, runs an allergen-conscious menu that is entirely gluten-free and largely vegan (with optional poultry or fish), spanning dishes from curry and tacos to caviar. Positioned as a haven for non-drinkers, those in recovery, the sober-curious, and the dietary-restricted, it operates Wednesday through Sunday with a 5-6pm happy hour.
