Tea at Shiloh

Tea at Shiloh is a reservation-only teahouse in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles, founded by Shiloh Enoki, who built it after struggling to find places to go late at night that did not revolve around serving alcohol. Her description of the intent is simple: she wanted it to feel like you are entering my home where everything is cozy and free inside. The Infatuation, reviewing it in May 2024, described a reservation-only tea house fond of floor sofas and screen-free interactions, where a day pass buys five hours of unlimited tea in a serene loft surrounded by exposed brick walls and barefoot introverts, and where after dark the space becomes a late-night lounge, candles and oat-coloured lanterns giving the room a soft glow while the couches fill with couples in deep conversation. A separate private tea lounge is described by the venue as inspired by the natural world and caves in particular — ancient yet modern, a place to make contact with mystery.

What is served here is tea, and the format is the draw as much as the drinks. Sessions are booked in advance through the venue's own calendar, with a limit of four reservations per group, and the late-night window runs to a hard 11pm close. Reservations carry a strict no-cancellation, no-refund policy because of how small the room is. The teas rotate rather than sitting on a fixed list, and have included Moonlight White, a caffeinated white tea; Leche de Tigre, built on red rooibos; and the floral Love Potion. A retail shelf sells the same leaves to take home, including pressed tea cakes. Evening programming is a significant part of what the space does — jazz nights, sound baths, tarot readings, art workshops — which makes it one of the few places in Los Angeles designed from the outset for a long, sociable, entirely sober night rather than an early dinner. All ages are welcome. Guests are asked not to bring pets or emotional support animals, and photography rules are strict: no flash, no professional cameras and no tripods.
