Haraz Coffee House

The corner of Lyndale Avenue and Lake Street has been a drinking corner for decades. The Iron Door Pub held the large corner room for years, and Cause Spirits and Soundbar before it; the Iron Door closed in March 2025 and Haraz Coffee House took the space, running a soft opening through the spring and opening properly in July 2026. It is the chain's first Minnesota location. Haraz was founded in Dearborn, Michigan and has expanded across the country on the same model as its Yemeni-coffeehouse peers: long hours, room to sit, a menu that treats Yemeni preparations as the main event rather than a novelty column, and no alcohol licence. Ziad Alobaidi told Racket in July 2026 that the goal was for people "to stop by and just enjoy themselves, whether solo, with family, or with friends" — a description of a third place rather than a coffee counter, and one that Lyn-Lake had lacked after 10pm without a bar attached.

The menu runs three ways. Traditional Drinks is the Yemeni section: Harazi Mufawar, coffee with cardamom and cream, also served iced; Adeni and Karak chai, black tea with the house haraz spice blend and cream, with a saffron version; Maleki, coffee brewed with husks, ginger, cinnamon and light cream; Jubani with cinnamon and ginger; Sana'ani, black coffee with cardamom; and Qishr, the coffee-husk infusion with cinnamon and ginger. Coffee and Other covers a Turkish preparation with cardamom, a Saudi coffee with saffron and cardamom, pour-over, French press, and a green tea with ginger and cinnamon. The Espresso Bar is where the house blend does its other job: the Haraz Latte is a double shot with honey, milk and haraz spice, and the same spice turns up in the matcha latte and the shaken espresso, alongside pistachio, saffron and salted caramel builds. Sweet and savoury pastries are sold at the counter. The room is large by coffeehouse standards and stays open to midnight on Friday and Saturday. A practical note on the address: the shop occupies the large corner unit at Lyndale and Lake, and the entrance is on Lyndale rather than on Lake Street. It runs to midnight on Friday and Saturday and to 10pm on weeknights, which makes it the latest room in Lyn-Lake, by some margin, where nothing behind the counter contains alcohol.
