3501 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702
Kinda Tropical sits on the lower stretch of E. 7th Street in East Austin's Govalle neighborhood, housed in a quirky converted gas station with a shaded back patio wrapped in native grapevines. For non-drinkers, it's one of the more substantive stops in this part of town: Visit Austin's 2026 zero-proof guide singles it out for having one of the deepest NA lists in Austin, and CultureMap's Dry January roundup describes the zero-proof menu as spanning herbal, citrusy, and aperitivo-style territory — not the usual lemon-lime afterthought.
Three NA drinks appear consistently across press citations. The hop water michelada riffs on the classic with hop-forward bitterness minus the alcohol. The Rosemary Bees Knees (also called Rosemary Lane) brings an herbal, floral structure that holds up as a serious cocktail alternative. A jalapeño pineapple margarita rounds out the lineup with the kind of spiced-fruit profile the venue's tropical-ish aesthetic promises. The bar program is run by veterans of Austin's music and service industries — no individual names are publicly credited — and the same kitchen produces everything from brunch waffles to Cuban yucca fries and a vegan jackfruit sandwich.
Kinda Tropical is an all-day venue: it opens at 11am daily and runs through midnight, making it equally functional for a laptop-and-cold-brew afternoon as for a late-night hang. The patio has misters and fans in summer and heaters and blankets in cooler months. It's walk-in only (no reservations required), dog-friendly, and explicitly kid-friendly per its own FAQ. The vibe is casual and unpretentious — good for groups, solo drinkers, and anyone who wants a genuinely mixed table where the NA drinkers aren't stuck choosing between sparkling water and a Shirley Temple.
