Non-alcoholic menu: what to order

Maple House occupies a corner of downtown Chandler and solves a problem most of the Phoenix metro does not: where to go in the evening, socially, without the evening being organised around alcohol. It opens at 7am as a coffee house — espresso, filter, the usual pastry case — and rather than closing when the cafes close, it carries on into the night with a full zero-proof cocktail list, running to 9pm most nights and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. The room is deliberately domestic: soft seating, low tables, the feel of a large living room rather than a bar.
That all-day structure is the whole proposition. A cafe that shuts at four leaves non-drinkers with nowhere to go at eight; a bar that opens at eight offers them a soda. Maple House covers the entire span with the same quality of drink, which is why it functions as a genuine alternative rather than a compromise. The cocktail side is built on real non-alcoholic spirits — the Nojito is a Seedlip build — and sits on the menu as the main event rather than in a corner of it.
Phoenix New Times gave it Best Non-Alcoholic Drink Options in the 2024 Best of Phoenix awards. That is worth pausing on: the category was won not by one of the downtown cocktail rooms with a James Beard nomination but by a suburban cafe twenty-five miles southeast, which says something about how seriously the place takes it. The location is the main caveat — Chandler is a drive from central Phoenix, and this is a neighbourhood venue rather than a destination for visitors staying downtown. The light-rail line does not reach Chandler, so plan on driving or a rideshare — which, given the entire premise of the place, at least nobody at your table will mind doing.
