640 Rhode Island Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002
metrobar is an 11,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor bar built around a redesigned WMATA Metro railcar that serves as its central bar structure, complete with a platform-style lounge and a cocktail garden, set just beside the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood station in DC's Edgewood neighborhood. The concept centers on connecting the District's eight wards through craft cocktails that spotlight local DMV spirits, breweries and wineries, with food provided by rotating truck partners. It was voted Best Bar in DC by Washington City Paper readers in 2024 and was named a 2025 Rammys "Best Bar" finalist. The bar offers non-alcoholic drinks year-round, and each January it goes all-out for Dry January with a full menu of "hot and cold spirit-free libations" billed as District-made cocktails without the hangover. The seasonal mocktail program is the most prominent expression of its NA offering, with the everyday menu listing non-alcoholic options alongside its cocktails, beer, cider and wine. Ordering is handled through QR-code Toast tabs at each table. The expansive, transit-themed setting has made it one of the more distinctive additions to DC's bar scene in recent years.
