The Dabney is a Michelin-starred Mid-Atlantic restaurant opened in October 2015 by chef-owner Jeremiah Langhorne in Blagden Alley, a tucked-away corner of the Shaw neighborhood. The 55-seat dining room centers on a ten-foot wood-burning stone hearth, and Langhorne's hyper-regional cooking earned a Michelin star in 2017 (when the guide first reviewed DC) and the 2018 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, on top of a spot on Bon Appetit's Best New Restaurants of 2016. The restaurant maintains a dedicated spirit-free drink list, available a la carte at the bar or paired alongside the tasting menu. Named zero-proof options include a Fennel Sour, built with toasted fennel, egg white, lime, and lemon, and a Manhattan-style riff that swaps in a house sorghum-based faux whiskey with spicebush "amaro" and black walnut bitters. The bar program is overseen by bar director Daniel Todd. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday evenings, beginning at 5:30 PM.
