Pink Lantern

Seventeen hours a day is an unusual thing for a bar to attempt. Pink Lantern, on 1st Avenue North in downtown Birmingham, opens at 7am and runs to midnight, or 2am on Friday and Saturday — which makes it a coffee shop, a lunch spot, an early-evening bar and a late one, in the same room, without changing hands.

That single fact is why it leads the licensed half of this guide. The hardest structural problem for someone who does not drink is that the good rooms only exist between 5pm and midnight; a venue that is already open at seven in the morning has no such gap, and a non-drinker can use it the way everyone else uses a bar — as the default place to suggest.

The drinks earn it as well. The Disco Paradise is club soda, lime, mint, dragon fruit and elderflower, which is a genuinely aromatic build rather than a fruit juice — the elderflower does the floral lifting that a gin would otherwise handle. The Fool Me Twice is the better of the two for anyone who finds most mocktails too sweet: spicy ginger beer against cantaloupe, pineapple and bright lemon, with the ginger heat standing in for alcohol's bite. Both are on the menu rather than made on request.

Bham Now, the city's daily, picked the bar out specifically for these in its January 2026 round-up of where to drink without alcohol in Birmingham, describing it as the city's hottest new bar — the sort of framing that matters, because it puts the mocktails at a room people want to be in rather than at one they will settle for.
