Pure Project

Pure Project is a sustainability-focused San Diego craft brewery founded in 2015, best known for ingredient-driven hazy IPAs and for taking its environmental commitments considerably further than the industry norm. The North Park taproom on El Cajon Boulevard pours twenty taps in a tucked-away courtyard, with URBN Pizza handling the food, and it is one of five Pure Project taprooms around the county.

The reason it appears here is recent: in April 2026 the brewery moved into non-alcoholic beer, and now pours two house-brewed NA options year-round at all five taprooms. Grounded is an NA IPA built on Citra and Mosaic hops with lemongrass, citrus and resin notes; Sunsip is an NA blonde ale running to fresh-baked bread, jasmine and lemon peel. Both sit below 0.5% ABV and both are made in-house under the same ingredient-focused ethos as the alcoholic range, rather than being contract-brewed or bought in — which is the distinction that separates a brewery that has thought about this from one that has stocked a fridge. Co-founder Winslow Sawyer framed the move as wanting to "share our brewing ethos with the world of NA beer, while embracing the quality and standards at the core of our craft." A blonde ale is a notably sensible second choice alongside the IPA: it covers the drinker who wants something light and sessionable rather than aggressively hopped, and that person is badly served by a non-alcoholic beer market that has bet almost everything on IPAs. Between the two, a non-drinker at a table of craft beer enthusiasts has a real choice rather than a single default. Open daily, from late morning at weekends. Because both non-alcoholic beers pour year-round across all five Pure Project taprooms rather than only here, the same options are available at its other locations — useful if North Park is not the convenient one for your group.
