Tall Order is a New American restaurant and neighborhood cocktail bar at 70 Beacon St in East Somerville, occupying the former Thirsty Scholar Pub space (which appeared in the 2010 film "The Social Network") and opening in early 2025. It was founded by Joe Cammarata and Daren Swisher, former bar managers at Hojoko, with a food menu designed by chef Juan Pedrosa (previously of The Glenville Stops and Yvonne's). The drink list is intentionally divided into regular cocktails, a "Low Alcohol" section, and a "No Alcohol" section, reflecting the owners' stated focus on building a substantial lineup of lower- and zero-ABV options. Confirmed no-ABV cocktails on its own menu include "1,2,3,4" (Earl Grey, verjus, vanilla, mango foam, tajin), the "Blue Shroom" (Oddbird N/A sparkling rose, blueberry, cardamom, mushroom), and "Bitter Bali" (Lucano and Giffard N/A bitter, pineapple, Gracenote cold brew), alongside NA beer (Rescue Club NA Pilsner and IPA), Oddbird NA sparkling rose, St. Agrestis Phony Negroni, and Lagunitas Hop Water. The wood-paneled, unpretentious room serves bar snacks and full entrees from 5PM with late-night dining, in a low-key East Somerville setting. The bar drew press attention from the Boston Globe, Cambridge Day, and a WBUR roundup of Boston restaurants leading with no-alcohol cocktails, where co-owner Daren Swisher emphasized the importance of a serious NA program. Drinks run roughly $12-15, with NA cocktails priced just below the alcoholic ones.
