Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Bars in Boston, MA

Craft cocktail bars and lounges in Boston that take their non-alcoholic program seriously. Greater Boston's non-alcoholic scene is anchored by Beyond Proof, the city's first fully alcohol-free craft cocktail bar in Jamaica Plain, and Dray, the area's first dedicated NA bottle shop, with locations in the South End and Cambridge's Central Square. Serious zero-proof menus run across the region's best bars and restaurants — the subterranean "Dry Spells" at Hecate in Back Bay, a no-ABV section at Tall Order in Somerville, craft spirit-free builds at Backbar and Brick & Mortar, and an Italian-leaning "Zero & Low Proof" list at SRV in the South End — while Notch Brewing's Brighton biergarten pours its own in-house non-alcoholic beer.

    Beyond Proof

    Jamaica Plain

NA Program Strength: 5 of 5?

Beyond Proof is a fully alcohol-free craft cocktail bar at 597 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, opened in April 2026 by Krista Kranyak, who converted her own long-running restaurant Ten Tables into what is widely reported as Boston's first zero-proof bar. Every drink is built at 0% ABV and the list is organised into sections headed Florals, Groundings, Rewritten Classics, Awakenings and Simple Sips, with straight $9 pours of zero-proof tequila, gin, vodka, bourbon and mezcal for guests who want something plainer. The kitchen serves a Lebanese and Mediterranean mezze menu of hummus boards, fire-roasted carrots, saffron tahdig bites, knafeh and slow-cooked pots. One drink, the Settle, is made with kava, a psychoactive root, which the bar names openly on the menu.

    Signature NA drinks
    • First Light (0% tequila, grapefruit, thyme, lime, sea salt, aromatic bitters)
    • Abstinence in Bloom (rhubarb, ginger, 0% abstinence, juniper, egg white foam)
    • Settle (kava — a psychoactive root — lime, strawberry, coconut foam, balsamic salt)
    • Smoked Old Fashioned (NKD 0% bourbon, orange, smoke, bitters, tableside smoke)
    • Guinness Espresso Martini (espresso, 0% Guinness, chocolate bitters, cacao)

    Hecate

    Back Bay

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Hecate is an underground cocktail bar in Back Bay, reached through a door off Public Alley 443 and sitting below its sibling Greek restaurant Krasi. It opened in April 2022 from the Krasi team, with Demetri Tsolakis among the co-owners alongside Stefanos Ougrinis, Tasha Breshinsky and Kayla Padilla, and takes its name and its occult styling from the Greek goddess of witchcraft and crossroads. Drinks arrive via a leather-bound book of spells, each cocktail tied to a piece of folklore, and the alcohol-free builds sit within that same framework under a dedicated Zero Proof list. They are not simplified: the spirit-free drinks use clarified milk, aquafaba, saline, bittering roots and house cordials, and are constructed with the same number of steps as the full-proof menu.

    Signature NA drinks
    • Copal Oro
    • Theta Range
    • Eighth Tower
    • Secret Chiefs

    Backbar

    Union Square, Somerville

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Backbar is a craft cocktail bar established in 2011 at 7 Sanborn Court in Union Square, Somerville, found through an orange door in the alley between The Independent and Bronwyn. It seats only 39, takes no reservations, and has collected an unusual run of accolades for its size: Boston Magazine rated it the city's best bar in March 2020, Time Out included it among the 28 coolest bars in the world in August 2021, and Wine Enthusiast named it Best Overall Bar in Boston in November 2024. Its non-alcoholic list is a full themed menu that rotates rather than a token section; the current one is Studio Ghibli-themed and headed "Rated NA: Non Alcoholic!", with every alcohol-free drink priced at $11.

    Signature NA drinks
    • Means to Fly (Seedlip Grove, Seedlip Spice, raspberry, orange shrub, ginger, lemon, cardamom, chocolate bitters, egg white, NA sparkling wine)
    • "Baluse" The Spell of Destruction (Pathfinder Hemp & Root, hojicha tea, sakura blossom bitters, rosemary)
    • Arrietty's Libation (Lyre's gin alternative, prickly pear, Lyre's Coffee Originale, Lucano Amaro Zero, lime)
    • No Face (Seedlip Spice, Lucano Amaro Zero, cold brew concentrate, demerara, elderflower, cream)
    • Mockingbirds (bespoke spirit-free bartender's-choice cocktail built to your taste)
  4. #4

    Brick & Mortar

    Central Square, Cambridge

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Brick & Mortar is a cocktail bar at 567 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square, Cambridge, entered through an unmarked door beside Central Kitchen and marked only by a small sign once you are inside. It is known for an adventurous cocktail list and for running craft cocktail classes for groups, and it keeps a standing Zero Proof Cocktails section on the printed menu rather than improvising alcohol-free drinks on request. Three zero-proof cocktails are listed at $15 each, matching the pricing and the build complexity of the full-strength list, and they use commercial non-alcoholic spirits — Landry London Dry, Lyre's Italian Orange, Spirit of Milano and non-alcoholic Lucano amaro — rather than juice-and-soda substitutes. It trades Monday through Saturday and is closed Sundays.

    Signature NA drinks
    • Less Than Zero (zero-alcohol spritz: Stappi Italian Red, Spirit of Milano non-alcoholic amaro, strawberry, fresh lime & grapefruit, over ice)
    • The Count Camillo (zero-proof Negroni: Landry London Dry non-alcoholic gin, Lyre's Italian Orange non-alcoholic aperitivo, non-alcoholic Lucano amaro)
    • Hong Kong Garden (non-alcoholic ginger spirit, pineapple, lime, Peychaud's bitters)
  5. #5

    SRV

    South End

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

SRV is a Venetian bacaro and wine bar at 569 Columbus Avenue in Boston's South End, opened in 2016 as the third concept from Coda Restaurant Group, which also runs The Salty Pig, Gufo and Baleia. The name is short for Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia, and the kitchen follows the format: cicchetti to pick at, pasta made from locally milled flour, and risotto cooked to order. The drinks list carries a standing section headed Zero & Low Proof, which is split three ways into non-alcoholic cocktails at $11 to $12, three non-alcoholic wines by the glass at $13 to $14, and three non-alcoholic beers. The cocktails are house builds rather than bought-in mixers.

    Signature NA drinks
    • Non-Groni (aperitif syrup, grapefruit, juniper)
    • Sirocco Spritz (oregano, yuzu, lemon, soda)
    • Mule of Trieste (Lucano N/A amaro, vanilla, lime, ginger — <0.5% ABV)
    • St. Agrestis Phony White Negroni
  6. #6

    Barlette

    Coolidge Corner, Brookline

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Barlette is a small cocktail bar in the Arcade Building at 318 Harvard Street in Coolidge Corner, Brookline, opened in 2023 by Rachel Trudel and chef Emily Vena, whose restaurant Cobble sits a floor above. It began as an alcohol-agnostic BYOB bar, where guests brought their own spirits and the bar supplied everything else, and it kept that structure after earning a full liquor licence in November 2024. The result is a menu where the base is a choice rather than a fixture: seasonal and classic cocktails are each offered with bourbon, gin, rum, tequila, vodka or spirit-free, so a non-drinker orders the same drink as everyone else. It is walk-ins only, wheelchair accessible, and open Wednesday to Saturday evenings.

    Signature NA drinks
    • House Espresso Martini (freshly brewed espresso, vanilla bean; spirit-free option) $18
    • Knee Deep in the Passenger Seat (lavender honey, fresh lemon; spirit-free option) $17
    • Coco Loco Yoko (toasted coconut, white chocolate, passionfruit; spirit-free option) $17
    • I Curried a Watermelon (watermelon juice, red Thai curry, pickled watermelon rind; spirit-free option) $17

    Grace by Nia

    Seaport

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Grace by Nia is a supper club on the third floor of 60 Seaport Boulevard in Boston's Seaport, opened in May 2023 by restaurateur Nia Grace, who also runs Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen in the South End. It spans more than 5,000 square feet of dining room and stage, programming live jazz and soul most nights it is open, and the kitchen runs a Southern menu — chargrilled oysters, fried catfish, bourbon peach ribs, country fried chicken with carrot cake waffles, lobster mac and cheese. The drinks list carries a named alcohol-free section headed Free Spirit, built on zero-proof tequila and bourbon rather than juice, priced at $14 for the spirit-based builds. It opens Friday through Sunday only.

    Signature NA drinks
    • Pretty in Pink (Clean Co. alcohol-free tequila, coconut cream, lemon, Red Bull Red Edition, Caliwater cactus water)
    • Prohibition (Free Spirits bourbon, alcohol-free bitters, habanero pepper maple, oversized ice)
    • Peach Sweet Tea Lemonade (peach, lemon, sweet tea)
  8. NA Program Strength: 3 of 5?

Time Out Market Boston is a curated food hall at 401 Park Drive in the Fenway, assembled by Time Out's editorial team from local chefs and restaurants, with two bars at opposite ends of the room serving the whole market. Those bars run a seasonal alcohol-free programme developed by Meghan Murphy, the market's assistant general manager and mixologist, built on house-made syrups rather than bought-in mixers, and rotated through the year in the same way as the cocktail list. Alongside the named drinks the bars keep a standing set of alcohol-free options: Sam Adams "Just The Haze" non-alcoholic beer, TOST sparkling rose, kombucha on draft from Luluna in Pawtucket, root beer, cream soda, Culture Pop and fountain soda.

    Signature NA drinks
    • Vanilla Fig Cooler
    • Blackberry Ginger Fizz
    • Winter Warm Spell
    • Lavender Lights
  9. NA Program Strength: 2 of 5?

Trina's Starlite Lounge is a Somerville lounge that opened in the Winter Hill neighborhood in 2009 and built its reputation on dive-bar food done carefully — dressed-up tater tots, baked mac-and-cheese and Southern-inflected comfort cooking — served in a small, booth-filled room that trades until 1am on weeknights and 2am at weekends. Its non-alcoholic offering is currently narrow. As of August 2026 the bar's published drinks list carries no mocktail, zero-proof or spirit-free section, and the only alcohol-free item on it is Notch Non-Alcoholic Pils from Salem, Massachusetts, at $7. The Boston Globe featured the bar in a January 2025 round-up of $5 booze-free cocktails, but that program is no longer listed. Seating is first-come, first-served, and a Sunday brunch runs from 11am.

    Signature NA drinks

What separates a good NA cocktail bar from the rest?

A great non-alcoholic cocktail bar isn't defined by whether it stocks Seedlip on the shelf. It's defined by whether the bartenders treat alcohol-free drinks as cocktails — built with the same logic, the same balance, the same care for mouthfeel and presentation as the alcoholic side of the menu.

The signal: a printed NA section on the menu with named drinks, an NA-spirits row on the back bar (Lyre's, Seedlip, Wilderton, Ritual, sometimes Monday Zero Alcohol Gin or Wilderton Lustre), house-made shrubs and bitters available for NA builds, and staff who can talk through what's in a drink without defaulting to "we can do something with juice."

The opposite: a generic "mocktail" line item priced at $8 with no description, or worse, a Shirley Temple by default. We rank cocktail-style venues here by NA Program Strength and lead with the venues that have published named NA drinks on their menu.
