Wendigo Tea Co. began in 2013 as the passion project of Sky White, keyboardist for the Cincinnati rock band Foxy Shazam, who developed a taste for high-grade tea after more than 2,000 shows touring the world. Named for the mythological monster, the company built its reputation on a deliberately small, curated selection of rare and hard-to-source loose-leaf teas — steering clear of cheap products and flavored blends, and carrying leaf that meets or beats strict organic and EU pesticide standards. "I wanted an entire company of the higher price point stuff and wanted to steer clear of the flavored teas and the cheaper things," White told Cincinnati Magazine. He opened his first brick-and-mortar tasting room in East Price Hill's Warsaw Avenue Creative Campus, then in July 2025 marked the company's 10-year milestone by opening this second storefront at Findlay Launch, Findlay Market's storefront accelerator.
The Findlay Market tea bar is entirely alcohol-free and substance-free — no beer, wine, spirits, kava or kratom, just tea. The counter pours hot and iced service and a rotating list of what the shop bills as "absurd crafted teas," backed by retail tins of Wendigo's signature blends: bold Bigfoot Black Tea, FireBird Chai, Nessy Jasmine Tea, the throat-soothing Siren Vocal Health Herbal Tea, and Kappa Matcha. Tastings are complimentary, and the staff — "entirely comprised of artists and musicians," per the shop — will brew samples to help you find a leaf worth taking home. White frames the whole enterprise around shared discovery: "I want it to revolve around how do we all get better at tasting cool teas together and create a culture around that."
Practically, the tea bar sits at 1811 Elm Street, right beside Findlay Market in Over-the-Rhine, open Wednesday–Thursday 10am–3pm, Friday–Saturday 10am–6pm and Sunday 10am–4pm (closed Monday–Tuesday). It's a relaxed, caffeine-forward stop rather than a nightlife alternative — ideal for a sober daytime market visit. Reach them at (513) 827-5555 or @wendigotea; the separate East Price Hill tasting room on Warsaw Avenue runs long-form tastings by appointment.
