ZERO ZERO

ZERO ZERO opened in Little River in June 2024, run by Nicole and Adam Darnell — the couple behind Boxelder Craft Beer Market, which is to say people who built a business on alcohol and then built one on its absence. The shop is primarily a natural wine retailer dealing in organic, biodynamic and low-intervention bottles, and inside it sits Zero Proof, a dedicated non-alcoholic micro-shop the owners bill as Miami's first and only retailer specialising in non-alcoholic beverages.

That it is a shop rather than a bar is the point. Most non-drinking happens at home, and the practical obstacle is supply: a supermarket stocks one alcohol-free lager and nothing else, so the alternative to a glass of wine on a weeknight is a soft drink. A retailer carrying non-alcoholic wines, tequilas and vodkas alongside ready-to-drink spritzers changes what is possible in a kitchen rather than only on a night out. The stated focus is nootropic, adaptogenic and functional beverages plus, in the shop's own phrase, interesting offerings that feature a slug of flavour.

The framing the Darnells give it is worth recording because it is the argument this whole directory rests on. Adam Darnell describes the aim as providing those who do not drink with equally exciting and delicious options — not a consolation, an equivalent. Housing that inside a natural wine shop rather than a separate sober storefront makes the same point structurally: the non-drinker and the wine buyer shop in the same room.

Goods and tinned fish round out the stock, and there is parking behind the building. It is a retailer, not a bar — there is nothing mixed on site and nowhere to sit and drink it. Little River has become the centre of gravity for this in Miami, and ZERO ZERO is a large part of why.
