Death & Co Los Angeles is the first West Coast location of the cocktail brand founded in New York's East Village on New Year's Eve 2006, and it opened in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles at the end of 2019 from the Death & Co team of David Kaplan, Alex Day and Devon Tarby with Ravi DeRossi — the same group behind the Normandie Club, Bibo Ergo Sum and the Walker Inn. The main room runs a seasonal menu organised into six sections, from the lightest and most refreshing through the most spirituous, with zero-proof drinks treated as one of those sections rather than an appendix; a separate walk-up Standing Room bar operates Thursday to Saturday. The zero-proof list currently holds three built cocktails at $16–$18 on genuine non-alcoholic spirits including Seedlip, Ritual, Giffard and Wilderton, backed by non-alcoholic wine and beer from NON, Lyre's, Athletic and Suntory.

Lemon Grove is a rooftop restaurant, bar, lounge and garden at the top of The Aster at Hollywood and Vine, with unobstructed views of the Hollywood Sign, the Capitol Records building and the hills. IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: The Aster below it is a private membership club, but Lemon Grove itself is open to locals, hotel guests and members alike — only the weekday members-and-guests lunch is restricted, so brunch, dinner, the bar and the lounge are all public. It opened in October 2022; Daniel Pfeifer-Kotz is now executive chef, and cocktails are credited to Ash Ramos. Its drinks list carries a printed "Zero Proof" section holding three named mocktails — The Afters (espresso, cherry syrup, cola, cocoa), Meet Me In Venice (grapefruit, ginger beer, lime, mint, smoked salt) and Leading Lady (seasonal berries, lemon, cranberry, sparkling brut) — alongside genuine non-alcoholic wine, with Lyre's Classico Grande sparkling brut and Giesen's dealcoholised Sauvignon Blanc and rosé from Marlborough, plus Athletic Brewing's non-alcoholic golden ale. The section appears to be priced at a flat $16, though we could not confirm that beyond doubt. Closed Mondays.

Gracias Madre is a vegan Mexican restaurant at 8905 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, opened in January 2014 in a former antique emporium — whitewashed brick, high ceilings with exposed beams, and a patio under mature olive trees with built-in heaters. CORRECTION: we previously described a spirit-free section called "On the Wagon" and a Michelada Sin Cerveza. Neither appears on the current menu. The section is now headed "zero/low proof" and holds four drinks at $16.50: the Rosemary Love (ginger and rosemary elixir, poured tableside) and Como No (Ritual apéritif, lemon, pineapple, jalapeño, guajillo, agave, foam), both printed 0 ABV; plus the Raspberry Orchard Shrub and No Sabo, both built on Green Apple NOOT. NOTE ON THOSE TWO: the menu defines NOOT as a functional blend of botanicals, herbs and nootropics containing under 1% alcohol, which cannot be served to anyone under 21 — so they are low-proof and age-restricted, not alcohol-free. Separately, eight standard cocktails can be made non-alcoholic with Cut Above NA tequila or mezcal at no extra charge. Aguas frescas and horchata are $6.50, seasonal kefir soda $8.50, and a rotating NA lager $10.50.

How we know a Los Angeles bar has NA beer
Three kinds of evidence put a venue on this page, and each card says which. The strongest is a menu we've read: the exact beers, the price where the menu prints one, and the date we confirmed it. Next are breweries — a brewery is in this directory because it pours non-alcoholic beer, often its own. Last are venues whose own menu or copy names a specific NA brand they carry. Nothing here is inferred from a review or a vague “great NA selection”.
“Non-alcoholic” is a legal band, not a promise of zero: under 0.5% ABV in the US, with “alcohol-free” reserved for 0.0%. The big lagers (Heineken 0.0, Guinness 0.0) are labeled 0.0%; most craft NA beers sit somewhere under 0.5%. We name the brand wherever the venue does so you can check the label that matters to you.
Draft NA beer is spreading but still uncommon, so we never assume it. A pour is marked “on draft” only when the venue's menu says tap or draft; everything else should be read as cans or bottles.
Frequently asked about non-alcoholic beer in Los Angeles
We've verified 3 places in Los Angeles with non-alcoholic beer: Death & Co Los Angeles, Lemon Grove at The Aster, Gracias Madre. 3 list it on a menu we've read line by line; the rest are breweries, or venues that name a specific NA beer brand they carry. Every listing shows when we last checked.
Usually not quite. In the US, beer labeled "non-alcoholic" must be under 0.5% ABV — a trace level also found in some ripe fruit and kombucha — while "alcohol-free" means 0.0%. Most craft NA beers (Athletic, Best Day, Untitled Art) sit between 0.0% and 0.5%; Heineken 0.0 and Guinness 0.0 are labeled 0.0%. Rules differ abroad: in the UK "alcohol-free" is 0.05% or under and "de-alcoholised" up to 0.5%. If you avoid alcohol entirely, look for a 0.0% label — we name the brand wherever the venue does, so you can check.
Draft NA beer is still the exception: most bars serve it in cans or bottles, and that is what to expect. We flag "on draft" only when a venue's own menu says tap or draft — none of the current Los Angeles listings has a menu-confirmed draft pour yet. If a listing doesn't say draft, assume packaged.
On the Los Angeles menus and listings we've verified, the most-carried brands are Athletic Brewing (1 venue), Best Day Brewing (1 venue), Grüvi (1 venue). Each brand on this page links to everywhere else it is poured.
