Best Day Brewing is a non-alcoholic craft beer company founded by Tate Huffard and based in Sausalito, in Northern California's Marin County. Huffard, who moved to the Bay Area in 2011 and built his life around surfing, skiing, trail running and mountain biking, started the brand after concluding that alcohol and an active outdoor lifestyle didn't mix well. The company centers its identity on "doers" and the outdoors.

The beers are brewed to full strength and then gently de-alcoholized using a process that keeps the beer from rising above its fermentation temperature, a method the brand says preserves aroma, body and flavor. Every beer is under 0.5% ABV and made from four ingredients — water, barley, hops and yeast — with a low-calorie, low-carb profile (the Kölsch is 55 calories and 11g carbs per 12 oz can; the West Coast IPA is 68 calories).

The core lineup spans a crisp, toasty Kölsch-style ale; a tropical, citrus-forward Hazy IPA; a piney, Cascade-hopped West Coast IPA; and Electro-Lime, alongside rotating styles such as the Wild American Pilsner. Best Day has grown into one of the larger independent non-alcoholic beer brands in the U.S. and raised $22.5 million in funding to fuel further expansion.

Recognition: Named among VinePair's "20 Best Non-Alcoholic Beers for 2026" (Kölsch)

While Sausalito's Best Day Brewing might not legally be able to call this a Kölsch — only breweries located within a 30-mile radius of Cologne, Germany can do so per EU law — it certainly aligns with the style, which can be described as the meeting point between a lager and a pilsner.

Killjoy Berry Hill is the second location of Killjoy, the alcohol-free bottle shop founded by Stephanie Styll, who stopped drinking in 2020 and launched the business in 2023. Like the East Nashville store, it sells exclusively non-alcoholic beer, wine, spirits, and functional beverages (including adaptogenic, THC/CBD, and herbal drinks), and offers on-site sampling so customers can taste before buying. Killjoy bills itself as Nashville's first booze-free beverage shop and, per Styll, the only alcohol-free retail business of its kind in the city. The shop's stated mission is to help change the culture around drinking in Nashville.
