Bar Nuda was built to do something specific: create a sober, social, safe space where people can go out, make connections and get those deep belly laughs without the pressure of drinking, while celebrating Mexican culture. That is co-founder Pablo Murillo's own description, and the reason behind it is personal — his father died of alcohol-related illness in 2017, three months after the birth of Murillo's eldest daughter and shortly after being deported to Mexico. He wanted, in his words, to change the narrative of his family and help others do the same, creating a space where people can heal while enjoying a night out. He runs it with Morris Ellis; the two also own the bottled agua fresca company Aguas Locas, and Bryant J. Orozco built the drinks. What set the bar apart was that it never imitated: Murillo's view is that people are not really looking for a non-alcoholic version of a margarita, they are looking for something more creative, something they may never have tasted before. The drinks bear that out — zero-proof cempasúchil carajillos, a Rosa Nuda of non-alcoholic tequila with bougainvillea and rose hips, a Magón built on beets, ginger, hibiscus and grape, and a bottle of United Ferments' Snow Chrysanthemum non-alcoholic wine. Orozco has also infused drinks with chuchupaxtle, the native herb also called osha root; the "functional" label here means botanicals aimed at relaxation or focus, not cannabis or kava.

We cannot tell you when to go, and it would be wrong to imply we can. Bar Nuda has never had a fixed address — it is a pop-up that takes over host venues — and its last confirmed run was a residency at a Venice café on Wednesdays to Fridays through the summer of 2025. Since then the trail goes cold. Its own website has no menu page and no events page at all; both return errors. The café that hosted the residency no longer mentions it anywhere, and its events listing is empty. We could find no dated evidence of a Bar Nuda event later than May 2025 — roughly fifteen months. That is not the same as closed, and pop-ups routinely go quiet between seasons, so the listing stays. But treat it as a project to follow rather than a place to turn up at.

At Bar Nuda, a DJ's música tropical beats circle through the air as plates of pollo verde-loaded nachos and sushi-grade ahi tostadas are passed to tables of lively guests, sipping on zero-proof cempasúchil carajillos, mock margaritas, and chrysanthemum-based, non-alcoholic wine.
