Bar X sits on the 200 South strip of downtown bars and has become a regular recommendation for the Dry January crowd. The no-menu approach means non-drinkers, designated drivers, and pregnant guests can simply describe what they're in the mood for and trust the bartender to compose something on the spot.
The non-alcoholic program drew local TV and newspaper coverage in 2024, with the Salt Lake Tribune featuring bartender Eric Lewis pouring flamed cinnamon over a craft mocktail for a fiery effect. The bar is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4pm and Sunday and Monday from 6pm, with live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

“When a lot of people think of a bar, they think of a place where you go to get alcohol, and that's enough of a sales pitch for most people. And so when people come in, and they're asking for something that doesn't have any of that, we see it as, one, a tremendous compliment.”— Eric Lewis, bartender at Bar XSalt & Seek (citing Salt Lake Tribune, Jan 2024) →
