DOMU is the flagship of chef-owner Sean 'Sonny' Nguyen's Orlando restaurant group, opened in November 2016 inside Audubon Park's East End Market. Nguyen, the son of Vietnamese refugees who settled in Winter Haven, Florida, began his culinary career in 2007 at Bento Asian Kitchen in Gainesville and trained in traditional Japanese noodle-making under Chef Kotani at Korin in New York before opening DOMU; the restaurant has held Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition every year since 2022, and Nguyen was a 2025 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: South.

The drinks menu treats non-drinkers as a real category rather than an afterthought, listing five named mocktails: Nada Colada, Lemony Snicket, Mango Lychee Lemonade, Virgin Daiquiri, and Rosey Pom. The bar also pours non-alcoholic 0.0% Sapporo alongside its seasonal cocktail, sake, and Japanese whisky program.

'My number one memorable recognition is going to be the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand award for Domu at East End,' Nguyen has said of the honor, calling it the highest recognition he never thought the restaurant would get. DOMU has since grown into a small restaurant group with additional locations in Orlando's Dr. Phillips neighborhood and Jacksonville's St. Johns Town Center, alongside sister concepts Tori Tori and Edoboy, and the original East End Market location was featured on Netflix's 'Somebody Feed Phil.'
