Meta was opened in November 2015 on Keong Saik Road by chef Sun Kim, who was born in Busan and raised in Seoul, cooking first in his mother's gamja-tang eatery before training under Tetsuya Wakuda in Sydney and at Waku Ghin in Singapore. The restaurant relocated to 9 Mohamed Sultan Road, in the Robertson Quay / River Valley precinct, in 2023. Its cooking is a contemporary interpretation of Korean flavours, blending traditional heritage with global influence and modern technique across a seasonal tasting-menu format.

Meta holds two Michelin stars, with its second awarded in the 2024 guide, and has featured on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants since 2021; it also received the American Express One To Watch award in 2021. The tasting menus run at S$248++ for the Friday-and-Saturday lunch and S$288++ to S$328++ at dinner (six- or eight-course).

For drinkers skipping alcohol, Meta lists a dedicated Non-Alcoholic Pairing at S$120++ as a printed alternative to its S$280++ beverage pairing. It is a full-length, house-composed zero-proof flight designed to track the tasting menu course by course, giving the no-alcohol pairing the same status as the wine list rather than reducing it to a soft drink. Specific pours change with the menu and season.

The room sits on Mohamed Sultan Road, a short walk from the Singapore River at Robertson Quay. Service is dinner Monday to Saturday from 6pm, with additional lunch seatings on Friday and Saturday; the restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Sun Kim has been careful in interviews not to let the cooking be filed away too neatly. Speaking to The Korea Times in January 2026, he resisted the label itself — the moment a chef decides their cooking is "Korean," he argued, the range gets smaller — and described his working method as a process of getting closer to something rather than arriving at it. That is worth knowing before booking, because it explains a menu that reads Korean in memory and technique without being a survey of Korean classics.

For a non-drinking guest the relevant detail is structural. Meta prints its non-alcoholic pairing on the menu at S$120++ next to the S$280++ wine flight, which puts the two in the same column rather than burying the alcohol-free option in a conversation with the sommelier. That distinction matters more than it sounds: a printed price is a commitment the restaurant has to honour on a quiet Tuesday as well as a full Saturday, and it removes the small social cost of having to ask.

The pours are house-composed and change with the tasting menu, so there is no fixed list to publish and no commercial zero-proof brand to point at. Service is dinner Monday to Saturday from 6pm with additional Friday and Saturday lunch seatings, and the restaurant is closed Sundays. Reservations are essential.

I don’t believe in perfection. I believe in the process of getting closer to it.
