Peregrin

The Perry Lane Hotel sits a block off Forsyth Park on East Perry Street, and Peregrin is what happens on its roof: an all-weather lounge with a pool that runs year-round, heavy tropical planting, colour-blocked walls and loungers arranged for the long view across the Historic District. It has taken Best Hotel Bar honours in Savannah more than once, and it is one of the very few rooms in the city where a good alcohol-free drink is available at two in the afternoon.

The mocktail list is short, deliberate and priced as a set — four drinks, all $12, printed under their own MOCKTAILS heading. The Lilypad is the clearest expression of the house style: Seedlip Garden, a cucumber-and-mint simple syrup, lemon and club soda, which is a genuinely herbaceous drink rather than a sweet one. The Sav Spirit pairs Giffard's non-alcoholic elderflower with Lyre's alcohol-free brut and soda. The Azalea Spritz is an all-Lyre's build, aperitivo and brut together, and reads as a straight substitution for the Aperol spritz the rest of the roof is drinking. The Mangrove takes Seedlip Grove — the citrus expression — with lemon and blood orange ginger beer. Alongside them the beer list runs Athletic Brewing golden ale and IPA at $8, with rotating draft offerings the staff will talk through.

One detail worth flagging for anyone arriving with a printed guide: the three Peregrin mocktails named in Visit Savannah's own zero-proof article — the French 108, Pick Up Lime and Palo N/A — have all rotated off. The current four are different drinks on the same premise, which is what a live programme looks like. The kitchen sends up charcuterie, cheese boards, tacos and the hotel's burger.
