The hardest part of not drinking is rarely the drink. It is the four hours of an evening whose entire structure is other people's rounds, and the low-level work of being the one person doing something different. A board-game café dissolves that problem completely, which is why Shuffles is near the top of this guide despite being neither a bar nor a dedicated alcohol-free room.

Shuffles sits on Archer Street in the Brady Arts District — Tulsa's downtown arts quarter — with a substantial game library you play from at the table. The evening's shape is set by whatever you are playing, so nobody is counting rounds and nobody is waiting for anybody. That is a genuinely different social experience from a bar, and it is the one most often recommended by people in early sobriety.

The drinks are made properly too, which is not a given in the format. The Muggle is built on zero-proof rum with lavender honey syrup, lemon juice, ginger syrup and bitters — five components, two of them house syrups, one a named non-alcoholic spirit. Lavender and honey against ginger and lemon gives it both floral lift and heat, and the bitters supply the finish that keeps it from reading sweet. Tulsa Remote named it in its January 2025 ranking of the city's mocktails.

A note on the bitters, since this directory is asked about it regularly: cocktail bitters are alcohol-based and a dash contributes a trace amount. For most readers that is immaterial; for anyone abstaining completely it is worth asking the bar to leave them out, which does not damage this particular build.

Open Tuesday through Sunday — 5pm midweek, noon at weekends, midnight close on Friday and Saturday. Closed Monday.

Worth adding for anyone visiting rather than local: Shuffles charges a small table fee for game play alongside the drinks, which is normal for the format and is what funds the library. It also means the room does not depend on drink sales to make its money, and venues whose economics do not require you to keep ordering are, structurally, the most comfortable places in any city to spend a long evening without alcohol.
