The Green Door

The Green Door is Greater Cincinnati's first-ever dry bar, opening on April 18, 2025 in downtown Covington, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. It was created by Christian Perry-Watt and the team behind Kentucky Botanicals Co. as what the company calls a "new kind of night out" — a fully alcohol-free space where no one has to choose between going out and staying off the booze. The design leans into a Prohibition-era speakeasy fantasy, all moody low light and a fusion of Art Deco and Art Nouveau detailing, a deliberate wink at the fact that this time the "dry" bar is the whole point.

Every drink here begins zero-proof. The core menu is built around handcrafted mocktails that guests can order straight or have infused with functional add-ins — kava, THC, CBD, adaptogens or blue lotus. Signatures include "That Lavender Haze," a soft floral build of blueberry, lavender and citrus, and "The Spicy Mock-arita," a mango, citrus and habanero riff on a margarita, alongside zero-proof classics like "Not Gin + Tonic" and "Whiskey-ish + Soda" made with non-alcoholic spirits such as London High and Looner Spirits. Beyond the bar program there are canned THC seltzers, kava seltzers, mushroom elixirs, and a small bottle shop for taking product home.

The room is open Tuesday through Sunday and closed Mondays — Tue–Thu 4–9pm, Fri–Sat 4–11pm, and Sun 2–9pm — at 5 E 8th St, with regular live music, DJ sets and wellness workshops filling out the calendar (the bar even ran a full slate of programming for Dry January). One important honesty note: alcohol-free does not mean substance-free here. Because drinks can be infused with kava, THC and other actives, entry is 21+ and the venue posts "Sip Safely" guidance about medications, pregnancy and dosing. Come for a genuinely sober night out — just go in knowing the optional infusions are the house specialty.
