Non-alcoholic menu: what to order

Trina's Starlite Lounge opened in Somerville's Winter Hill in 2009 and has spent more than fifteen years as a neighborhood lounge and industry hangout — the kind of room where kitchen staff turn up once their own shifts have ended. It is credited locally with helping popularize dressed-up bar food, loaded tater tots and baked mac-and-cheese and Southern-inflected fried chicken among them, well before that became a standard restaurant move, and the cooking is still the reason most people come. The space is small, dark and booth-filled, run first-come first-served with reservations taken only for Valentine's Day, and it keeps genuinely late hours: 5pm to 1am Monday through Thursday, 5pm to 2am on Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 1am on Sunday, when brunch runs until 3pm.
For non-alcoholic drinkers the picture has narrowed, and it is worth being precise about it. The Boston Globe included Trina's in a January 2025 round-up of spots serving booze-free cocktails, singling out a $5 mocktail list that ran to a Phony Negroni and a floral drink built on Fluere Botanic Blend. As of August 2026 that program is no longer on the published menu: the bar's own drinks list has no mocktail, zero-proof or spirit-free heading anywhere on it, and the single alcohol-free item is Notch Non-Alcoholic Pils from Salem, Massachusetts, listed at $7 alongside the draught beers. That is a real option and Notch is a well-regarded Massachusetts brewery, but one non-alcoholic beer is the whole of it. Anyone arriving expecting a made-to-order alcohol-free cocktail should ask at the bar rather than assume the Globe's list still stands. The remainder of the drinks menu is a rotating cocktail program, draught and canned beer, and a short wine list. The bar sits at 3 Beacon Street, a short walk from Inman Square on the Somerville side of the line, and takes phone enquiries during service if you want to check what is pouring before making the trip.
