Beyond Proof is Boston's first fully alcohol-free craft cocktail bar, opened in April 2026 by veteran restaurateur Krista Kranyak in the Jamaica Plain space that for over 20 years housed her acclaimed restaurant Ten Tables, which she closed at the end of 2025. Several years sober, Kranyak built the concept around the idea that zero-proof drinks deserve the same structure and creativity as a full cocktail program, offering more than a dozen alcohol-free craft cocktails. Named drinks include "First Light" (zero-proof tequila, grapefruit, and thyme), "The Settle" (kava, lime, coconut, and cucumber), the floral "Abstinence in Bloom" (rhubarb, ginger, and egg-white foam finished with edible roses), and a Smoked Old Fashioned, alongside alcohol-free takes on the dirty martini, gin and tonic, and espresso martini. The drinks are paired with a Mediterranean and mezze-focused kitchen drawing on Lebanese and Persian influences, with dishes such as hummus, muhammara, beef kofta, roasted carrots with labneh, fattoush, and lamb stew with apricots. Kranyak has framed the bar as a welcoming, inclusive space, noting "You don't have to be sober to be here" and that it serves anyone who simply doesn't feel like drinking. The opening drew coverage from The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, WBUR, and NBC Boston as a notable arrival in the city's nonalcoholic scene.
