The California Clipper is Humboldt Park's longest-standing neighborhood bar, established in 1937 in a building that has stood at California and Augusta since 1912, and it carries one of the deepest non-alcoholic lists of any old-line Chicago tavern. The drink menu keeps a standing Non-Alcoholic section rather than a token substitution: two built zero-proof cocktails - the Last Call N/A with Seedlip Notas de Agave, white peach and lemon, and the Choomjito N/A - plus bottled Lyre's Prosecco, Amalfi Spritz and gin and tonic, a St Agrestis Phony Negroni, Athletic Brewing hazy IPA, Old Mil N/A lager and yerba mate. Note that the Choomjito and the Choom soda contain THC and the Chelsea B soda contains CBD; the rest of the list is free of both.

Estereo is the Latin-American all-day bar from Heisler Hospitality on Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, known for one of Chicago's most serious agave spirits lists and, alongside it, a standing Non-Alcoholic section on the same printed menu. Two of its zero-proof pours are built in-house: a tepache of pineapple, black pepper, cloves, piloncillo and Rare Tea Cellar Mallorca melon tea, and an agua fresca of Seedling Farms tart cherries and mint. Two are mixed drinks - a Rosemary Spritz with rosemary syrup, lime and Martini and Rossi Floreale, and a Three Spirits Mule with ginger syrup, pina, lime and Three Spirits Nightcap. Dearly Beloved is a self-described "cocktail restaurant" from Machine Hospitality Group, which opened in May 2024 in River North's former Kiki's Bistro space at 900 N Franklin St. The beverage program is led by mixologist and beverage director Aneka Saxon, who sourced ingredients on travels through six countries. Alongside its spirited menu, the venue maintains a permanent "Zero Proof Cocktails" section rather than a one-off list — a commitment Saxon highlights as core to the program. Named non-alcoholic builds include Clearly Cultured (with Seedlip Grove), Understory (Heywell lime adaptogen soda), Fresh Cut Grass (dandelion honey, grasshopper syrup, liquid chlorophyll, lime), and Soda Pop (orgeat, oat milk, coconut soda, orange flower and rose water). Machine Cocktail Bar opened in May 2025 on West Institute Place in River North and treats every drink on its menu as a piece of stagecraft, with the zero-proof ones given exactly the same production values as the spirit-forward list. Breakfast in Bed is built on Seedlip Spice with French toast syrup, pineapple juice, lime juice and a splash of soda at $15; Judgement Free Zone combines watermelon, mango, passion fruit, habanero and lime juice at $13; and Pretty Peas - honeysuckle, sugar snap peas, lime juice and soda - arrives hanging inside a glass globe. The bar keeps late hours on Friday and Saturday, running to 2am, and Block Club Chicago made it a stop on its Dry January sober drink crawl.

Bokeh is a cosy neighbourhood cocktail bar in Albany Park, two blocks north of the Kedzie Brown Line stop, opened in 2019 by a hospitality veteran and former professional photographer who built the room around a photography theme — bokeh being the name for the soft out-of-focus light behind a subject. It was nominated for Neighbourhood Bar of the Year in the Chicago Tribune's 2025 Readers' Choice food awards. Its menu carries a printed "Alcohol-Free Cocktails" section of four drinks at $11, all built from house syrups, jams and fresh juice rather than bought-in zero-proof spirits: Watermelon Man (watermelon juice, mint syrup, lemon), Shinjuku Sweetheart (yuzu, soursop, honey), Echo Mist (chicory syrup, mulberry jam, soda, lemon), and Hi-Potion (lime, lemon, salt, mint), a like-for-like alcohol-free build of the bar's own gin-and-vodka cocktail of the same name. Qamaria Yemeni Coffee is a large, fully alcohol-free Yemeni coffeehouse on the stretch of North Kedzie Avenue in Albany Park that has become Chicago's densest cluster of Middle Eastern cafes. It is the Chicago outpost of Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co., founded by Yemeni entrepreneurs Hatem and Munif with the stated mission of sharing Yemeni-sourced coffee with the world, and it keeps the late hours that define the category: open until midnight most nights and until 1am on Friday and Saturday. The room is built for sitting rather than grabbing and going, with a deep floor of tables a block north of the CTA Brown Line's Kedzie stop. The menu runs on light-roast Yemeni coffee, spiced milk drinks, signature lattes and a case of Middle Eastern pastries and cakes. No alcohol is served at any hour.

Queen Yemeni Coffee is an alcohol-free Yemeni coffeehouse that opened in May 2026 in the ground floor of the historic Bridgeview Bank building at Lawrence Avenue and Broadway in Uptown, taking over a space that had been a Starbucks. It is the second location of a small operation that started in suburban Libertyville, and it is run as a late-night room: doors open at 5am and stay open until midnight on weeknights and 1am on Friday and Saturday. The name, logo and wall mural all reference the Queen of Sheba, ruler of Yemen and Ethiopia, and the beans are sourced from Yemen. The menu covers traditional milk and cardamom-spiced coffees at $5-$6, spiced signature lattes, teas, smoothies, breakfast plates and a dessert case. No alcohol is served.

The Aviary is the avant-garde cocktail bar of The Alinea Group — the Chicago restaurant empire of Michelin-starred chef Grant Achatz and partner Nick Kokonas — opened in 2011 in the Fulton Market District of the West Loop. It treats drinks with fine-dining rigor, using molecular techniques, custom glassware, and a dedicated ice chef. Critically, its non-alcoholic program is a first-class equal, not an afterthought: every experience, from multi-course cocktail progressions to the à la carte list, is available fully zero-proof, with a dedicated NA pairing menu. The kitchen's commitment runs deep enough that the Alinea Group published "ZERO: A New Approach to Non-Alcoholic Drinks," a book of nearly 100 alcohol-free recipes. Shibam Coffee is an alcohol-free Yemeni coffeehouse that opened on 21 December 2025 at 5241 N Kedzie Ave in North Park, on the Kedzie Avenue corridor where several Middle Eastern cafes have opened within a mile of each other. It is the eleventh location of a chain that started in Dearborn, Michigan in 2022 and has since expanded through Ohio, Texas and now Chicago, and it imports its coffee beans and tea directly from Yemen. The menu is unusually deep on the traditional side for a US cafe, listing Adeni tea, mufawar, sana'ani, jubani, rad'ai and qishr alongside Saudi and Turkish coffee, an espresso list, non-caffeinated refreshers and a pastry case of sabaya, honeycomb and basbousa. There is no alcohol on the menu at all.

Arwa Yemeni Coffee

Arwa Yemeni Coffee is an alcohol-free Yemeni coffeehouse on Milwaukee Avenue in Bucktown, the Chicago city location of a chain that began in Richardson, Texas as the first Yemeni coffee shop in that state and has since opened in Illinois, Massachusetts, Connecticut and California. The menu is split into traditional Yemeni drinks, iced refreshers, house signatures and espresso classics: jubani, qishr, mofawer, adeni tea and sana'ani coffee sit alongside a Yemeni latte, a date matcha latte and the Sand Dune latte. Arwa's rooms are designed for sitting and staying, several of them built around jelsa rooms for traditional floor seating. It keeps late hours by cafe standards, running to 10pm most nights and to midnight on Friday and Saturday. No alcohol is served.

Three facts, all verified, all required. The venue has to rate at least 4 of 5 for its non-alcoholic program — a fully alcohol-free room, or a licensed venue with a strong named zero-proof list, the same floor our Chicago sober bars page uses. It has to be somewhere you can sit, so bottle shops are out. And its hours have to run past midnight on at least one night, which is what makes this a nightlife page rather than a second copy of the sober bars list: at that cut a restaurant with a good zero-proof menu drops out, and the bars, lounges, kava bars and late coffeehouses remain.
“No alcohol served” is written on a card only when the venue's own verified description says so — never inferred from a rating or a name. Everything else here is a bar with a real non-alcoholic program, and it is labelled as a bar. Hours are the venue's live listing, re-synced weekly; the drinks on each venue page were read off its current menu and carry the date we last confirmed them.

A named drink built on a real non-alcoholic spirit (Seedlip, Lyre's, Ritual, Pathfinder and the like) is a different thing from a soda with fruit in it, and it is priced and served like a cocktail. If the list has changed since we checked, ask what the bar is making that week rather than for "a mocktail".
It is an honest one. The venues marked "no alcohol served" are rooms where nobody at the next table is drinking either, and for many people that is the only kind of night out that works. The licensed venues are bars — good ones for a non-drinker, but bars — and the page says so plainly rather than blurring the two. Choose by the label, not the name.
