    The Merryweather

    Schnitzelburg

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

The Merryweather is a neighbourhood bar on the corner of Lydia Street in Schnitzelburg, one of Louisville's older working-class German neighbourhoods on the south side. Its non-alcoholic programme is unusually committed for a corner bar: the standing Sober Ghia Spritz is built on Ghia, the gentian-and-yuzu Mediterranean aperitif, and each January the bar prints a full alcohol-free menu of its own — the Dry Tai, the Nada Colada, the Mock-Scow Mule and the Not Toddy, which cover the tiki, tropical, ginger and hot-drink positions between them. That is a bar treating Dry January as a menu-writing exercise rather than a marketing line, and it is why the venue keeps appearing in Louisville's zero-proof coverage.

Order: Sober Ghia Spritz (Ghia aperitif, soda) · Dry Tai · Nada Colada

    Hours: Mon-Wed 4pm-2am; Thu-Fri 4pm-3am; Sat 2pm-3am; Sun 11am-2am

  2. #2 · Open until 2am, every night · Bar

    Barrel Bar & Grill

    Central Business District (Whiskey Row)

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Barrel Bar & Grill sits on Whiskey Row, the block of West Main Street that holds Louisville's bourbon-tourism distilleries, and is the bar and grill attached to the Louisville Comedy Club. Its zero-proof list is the most locally rooted in the city: the Zero Proof Old Fashioned is built on Kentucky 74, the non-alcoholic bourbon made in Louisville by Spiritless, so the signature Kentucky drink is served here in a genuinely Kentucky alcohol-free form rather than as an imported substitute. Alongside it sit the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, built on caramel, ginger and grenadine, and the Cinderella — orange and pineapple juice with ginger ale, grenadine and bitters.

Order: Zero Proof Old Fashioned (Spiritless Kentucky 74 non-alcoholic bourbon) · Pineapple Upside Down Cake (caramel, ginger, grenadine) · Cinderella (orange juice, pineapple juice, ginger ale, grenadine, bitters)

    Hours: Mon-Thu 1pm-12am; Fri-Sat 10am-2am; Sun 10am-12am

  3. #3 · Open until 2am, every night · Bar

    Planet of the Tapes

    Phoenix Hill

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Planet of the Tapes is a comedy club, bar and video-store-themed hangout on Barret Avenue in Phoenix Hill, and it has the most non-drinker-friendly pricing policy in Louisville: any of its movie-inspired cocktails can be made as a mocktail for $5, a flat price well under the alcoholic version rather than the usual practice of charging cocktail money for juice. It also makes its own sodas in house — mango pineapple, raspberry pomegranate and lavender lemon — and names drinks with the same cheerful nonsense as the rest of the room, including the Shirley Temple of Doom and The Mangolorian. Shows and open mics run most nights until midnight, or 2am at weekends.

Order: Shirley Temple of Doom · The Mangolorian · House-made mango pineapple soda

    Hours: Mon-Thu 4pm-12am; Fri-Sun 4pm-2am

  4. #4 · Open until 2am, 6 nights a week · Wine bar

    Canary Club

    Shelby Park

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Canary Club calls itself Louisville's first and only natural wine bar, and it is 100 per cent women-owned, run by Sarah Height and Chelsea Moore in a dive-bar room on South Shelby Street in Shelby Park. The non-alcoholic side is treated as part of the offer rather than a courtesy: the bar stocks non-alcoholic beer and wine, builds named zero-proof drinks including the Wild Rose Spritz on Figlia Fiore aperitivo and the Maleficent on NKD LDY non-alcoholic gin, and runs half-price non-alcoholic drinks every Monday as a standing feature. Free live jazz runs every Tuesday, the kitchen serves until 1am nightly, and rotating food pop-ups take over several nights a week.

Order: Wild Rose Spritz (Figlia Fiore aperitivo, orange, lemon, simple syrup) · Maleficent (NKD LDY non-alcoholic gin, pomegranate, lime, ginger, house grenadine) · Non-alcoholic Old Fashioned

    Hours: Mon-Thu 4pm-1am; Fri 4pm-2am; Sat 1pm-2am; Sun 1pm-11:51pm

  5. #5 · Open until midnight, 2 nights a week · Cocktail bar

    Epiphany

    Original Highlands

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Epiphany opened at the end of 2022 on Highland Avenue in the Original Highlands, describing itself as a cocktail bar, brewery and spirits house built around bringing the farm-to-table idea into drinks. That premise is why its non-alcoholic drinks work: when the programme already runs on local produce, house syrups and infusions, removing the alcohol removes one ingredient rather than the whole structure. The alcohol-free list rotates seasonally. Verified builds include the Orange Turmeric Limeade, made with local honey from Happy Jack's Pumpkin Farm, orange blossom water and mint, and a seasonal Rose Ginger Lemonade. It is one of the city's most-cited zero-proof programmes.

Order: Orange Turmeric Limeade (Happy Jack's Pumpkin Farm honey, orange blossom water, mint) · Rose Ginger Lemonade (seasonal)

    Hours: Mon-Thu 4pm-10pm; Fri-Sat 4pm-12am; Sun closed

How this page decides what counts

Three facts, all verified, all required. The venue has to rate at least 4 of 5 for its non-alcoholic program — a fully alcohol-free room, or a licensed venue with a strong named zero-proof list, the same floor our Louisville sober bars page uses. It has to be somewhere you can sit, so bottle shops are out. And its hours have to run past midnight on at least one night, which is what makes this a nightlife page rather than a second copy of the sober bars list: at that cut a restaurant with a good zero-proof menu drops out, and the bars, lounges, kava bars and late coffeehouses remain.

“No alcohol served” is written on a card only when the venue's own verified description says so — never inferred from a rating or a name. Everything else here is a bar with a real non-alcoholic program, and it is labelled as a bar. Hours are the venue's live listing, re-synced weekly; the drinks on each venue page were read off its current menu and carry the date we last confirmed them.
